New Details On Batman's Whereabouts In BIRDS OF PREY Possibly Revealed

It was recently reported that the Birds of Prey step up to protect Gotham City in Batman's absence but some new details on that have seemingly been revealed which should leave us with plenty to discuss!

In Deadline's report on Mary Elizabeth Winstead being cast as Huntress, it was mentioned that Birds of Prey is going to take place in a Gotham City where there's no sign of Batman. That immediately raised alarm bells among fans and now another reliable source has weighed in on the matter. While the Dark Knight's disappearance won't be a huge part of the movie, it's clearly going to have a huge impact.

Where is Batman and why hasn't he been seen? We don't know but seeing as Warner Bros. is moving away from a shared universe, this throwaway line could be used solely as a way of explaining why he doesn't help out Harley Quinn and company take down Black Mask. It is, of course, possible that his absence will be addressed in The Batman but there's so much we don't know, it's impossible to say.

How do you feel about this news? As always, be sure to let us know your thoughts in the usual place.

Imma huge Bat-fan myself and his role in Gotham is very important, but i'd hate to see the f*cker show up in every single shit, Birds of Prey, Nightwing, Batgirl etc...

All I need to feel is his "aura" and that does the trick for me, that's more than enough, don't even need a cameo like in Suicide Squad.

You know how you feel Wilson Fisk's presence throughout the first part of the DD S1 but you don't fully see him until ep-whatever?
Yeah, that's what i'm saying. :3

Wait, have they not watched the DKR, fans tend not to like when Batman stops doing what he does, have they not read a Batman comic, Batman doesn't leave Gotham unprotected, there's usually a Batman to cover, Grayson, Azreal, or whoever,.....Oh they may explain his disappearance in a solo film or not, blah blah, probably won't, we're a shit universe so continuity doesn't matter. So Batman is missing, and Batgirl-Barbera Gordon, it's not Birds of Prey without Barbera Gordon.

@ARMUS - Warner Bros board meeting,

Exec-1 : we don't know anything about BC. Exec-2 : BC? Exec-1 : Oh! DC. Exec-3 : what's DC ?. Exec-4 : doesn't matter, DC fans will take whatever crap we give them.

@ARMUS - Ironically, the most popular Batman storyline ever, The Dark Knight Returns, starts off with him retired and not being productive at all. Superman should've been asked to takedown the mutants,🤔. But conveniently, he's not. So Batman has to come out of retirement.

There's some bullsh!t exposition about vigilantes being outlawed by the government. But there's never a good reason why Batman decides to stay on the sideline for so long, while the mutants are taking over Gotham.

Fans pick and choose what they're willing to accept, and plot holes they're willing to ignore.😂

@WAKANDABATMANFOREVER - True, but anything is pretty much acceptable in an elseworld story, curious about the Joker flick for that reason, whereas if they gave Joker an origin in their established universe I'd hate it automatically. not that everything in that universe bar Wonder Woman isn't already hate worthy.

This universe is so confusing. I mean, its following a straight line... yet there's already little retcons and (major) recasting along the way, and in turn of those recasting(s) you question if anything pre-Aquaman even happened anymore.

Already getting as weird as the X-Men "universe".

@Kurne - The studio interference REALLY doesn't help. There weren't continuity errors until they were made in post production. It hasn't been posted here, but David Ayer recently posted, on Twitter, that Harley Quinn WASN'T initially an accomplice to Robin's murder, and that it was written in during the reshoots. I'm pretty sure Joss Whedon’s reshoots made it look like the motherbox activated after Superman died, and the scene of Cyborg having a little more of his arms and legs, was part of Whedon's reshoots as well. Snyder and Ayer had their own continuity that actually fit with previous films, but the studio was afraid their films would have been “too dark” and “fixed” them in post production which led to those films being littered with continuity errors.

Hopefully they have learned their lesson, but until they #ReleasetheSnyderCut (indicating that they realized that taking films away from their storytellers was wrong and they promise never to do it again) and possibly even #ReleasetheAyerCut to reenforce this, I worry it will keep happening.

"but seeing as Warner Bros. is moving away from a shared universe"

LOL we're getting Aquaman,Shazam, Wonder Woman 2, Birds of Prey and Flash after, which all have connections to movies before them..how is this moving away from shared universe?
SisterSunday52
SisterSunday52 - 9/28/2018, 11:27 AM
@sixthsense - I know right? They think that, just because Marvel features cameos from another hero in almost every one of their “solo” films and DC Films doesn't, that they're moving away from a shared universe. The only film that takes place in its own universe is “Joker”. Everything else takes place in Zack Snyder's DC Films Cinematic Universe and, as of right now, there doesn't seem to be any plans to delete that universe. I just hope they hire back Superman and Batman. The universe is incomplete without them.
