Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje Still Campaigning For Black Panther

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje Still Campaigning For Black Panther

Over a year ago, "Triple A" expressed interest, and said he had discussions with Marvel about possibly playing T'Challa. Now, he reveals to Screenrant that his passion is still very much alive for the role..

While hitting the campaign trail for GI Joke back in Summer 2009, Agbaje revealed his love for the character of T'Challa, The Black Panther and how much he would love to play the part in a movie..

“We’re talking to Marvel about ‘Black Panther… This is the first round, so you know, hopefully they’ll look at ‘G.I. Joe’ and see the potential. But it’s about time we have a black superhero, isn’t it?”

“He’s from a fictional village in Africa and the timing is so right for that kind of character to come through… And while I’m in my prime, this is the time. We’ve got [U.S. President Barack] Obama, now we need something onscreen to represent, so… ‘Panther,’ man.”

All has been quiet on the Wakanda front since. But Triple A(as he is apparently known..its certainly easier to type!) is still adamant to get his foot in Marvel's door. As he spoke to Screenrant about his role in the upcoming Thing prequel, he shared the following..

“I would love to see that happen, and I think the more we – my people – campaign for that, the more viable it will be. And I mean, obviously appearing in cult-classics and blockbusters all help, we’re very much on [Marvel's] radar…I think it’s all about campaigning, I’m going to keep knocking on their door.”

He also added that he knows Marvel are very focused on their top tier movies like Thor, Captain America, The Avengers. But he (and we) knows that after that, Marvel will be turning their attention to some smaller, lesser known characters that are bound to include Black Panther. And that then there would be an increased window of opportunity for him to snag the coveted role. Best of luck Triple A, I'm sure you would do a great job.

It's between Adewale and Chiwetel but I tend
toward Adewale cuz of his impressive size and
amazing acting skills. I also like Idris Elba
for it!

Eijifor is an excellent actor, one of the best
I think, but he's only 5'11". Adewale is 6'2".

Djimon Hounsou is awesome but he's too damm old
now! He should play T'challa's dad, T'CHAKA!

I sure wish they would go from the forever
talking stage to actually making the damm movie,
for Pete sakes!

STFU u backward fool

DDD
DDD - 10/11/2010, 4:02 PM
Ralphmouth@ you are mixing reality with fantasy,
non-fiction with fiction!

The African nation of Wakanda is basically a secret
nation with high-tech. They aren't like the rest of
Africa around them. They are different because of vibranium.

Eddie Murphy's "COMING TO AMERICA" didn't bomb and
it was an African movie.

Ralphmouth@ maybe you don't care about Black
Panther but I do and I'm Caucasian. He's an important
AVENGER and needs to have his own movie to set him
up to be in the AVENGERS somewhere! Are you even a
comic book fan?

The Avengers right now are pretty white-washed, there
needs to be some color in there. As it is now
AVENGERS is a white-men's club. Hell, there's barely
any women there either! In my book that is extremely
lame and one-sided!

If Black Panther is done right it would be a big hit,
not just bomb automatically cuz it's about Africans.

Jazzman@ you took the words right out of my mouth!

@weneedrevelation u sound really dumb its a comic book movie don't be so serious.

What's up with the bigots?

Chiwetel Ejiofor for Black Panther.

Hounsou is too old, AAA is too bulked out. The bulked out hero is Cage, not T'Challa.
