The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is temporarily shutting down due to star Letitia Wright's on-set injury suffered back in August. That happened in Boston and involved a stunt rig, and Marvel Studios issued a statement at the time saying the accident wouldn't have any sort of impact on production.

According to the trade, Wright has been recovering in London ever since, leaving the sequel to shoot around her character Shuri. While cameras have continued to roll in Atlanta, sources report that this hiatus is needed to "reconfigure" the shoot in order for work to resume early next year.

Luckily, director Ryan Coogler has managed to shoot everything he can without Wright's presence. That can only be sustained for so long, though, so it's no wonder the pause button has been hit.

"Letitia has been recovering in London since September from injuries sustained on the set of Black Panther 2 and is looking forward to returning to work early 2022," a representative for the actress tells the trade. "Letitia kindly asks that you keep her in your prayers."

It's noted that Shuri has been "elevated" to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever's lead and the movie remains on track for a November 11, 2022 release.
