BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER Producer Talks Possible Storm Plans And Says X-MEN Are Still "A Few Years Out"

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever producer Nate Moore has commented on the possibility of Storm finding her way to Wakanda, but points out that any sort of X-Men reboot in the MCU is still "a few years out."

Following Sir Patrick Stewart's return as a Professor X Variant in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the MCU got its first official mutant with Ms. Marvel's Kamala Khan. We know Black Panther: Wakanda Forever's Namor is also a mutant, and it surely won't be too much longer before the X-Men make their presence felt in this shared world.

There's currently no official word on a reboot, unfortunately, with Deadpool 3 even expected to take us back to Fox's X-Men Universe (which he and Hugh Jackman's Wolverine calls home). While we're sure the Merc with the Mouth will find his way into the MCU at some point, it's clear Marvel Studios is in no rush to add this iconic team of mutants to the Multiverse Saga.

Talking to Screen Rant, Black Panther franchise producer Nate Moore weighed in on the chances of Storm finding her way to Wakanda and shared an update on X-Men plans.

"Well, Storm's relationship with Wakanda in publishing is pretty interesting. Obviously, we might be a few years out from the X-Men, so I'm not sure we're there yet," he explains. "Who else from Wakanda have we not introduced? I mean, there's a pretty deep bench, actually."

"And especially, I think, Ta-Nehisi's run introduced a lot of key characters that would be fun to export. Even characters like Vibraxas, which are more Fantastic Four characters. But yeah, it's a pretty deep bench. I think there's a lot more stories to tell on Wakanda for sure."

If Avengers: Secret Wars reboots the MCU and creates a new Earth-616, it could be that the X-Men are just part of that. Alternatively, Marvel Studios may be planning to take its time with these characters, taking a slow-burn approach to introducing mutants before they eventually assemble as a team.

One thing we do know is that Marvel Studios would be wise to leave as much breathing space as possible between Dark Phoenix and whatever they have planned for the franchise.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever arrives in theaters on November 11.

Storm might be the most valuable player of the X-Men when it comes to the MCU. Basically pure gold when you look at how the MCU is positioning itself in popular culture.

Strong, female, African character with a kick-ass visual power-set, ties to the wider Marvel Universe and an enthusiastic existing fanbase waiting to see her done justice. She is literally perfect.

The butts are already in the seats, all they can do is lose them if they somehow find a way to blow it. Hopefully by taking their time they can get it spot-on.

Watch, when they do bring Storm in its gonna be Shuri and Ororo who fall in love instead of T'Challa and Shuti becomes King of Wakanda and Ororo her Queen or some shit lol

@TheVandalore - Are you complaining?

@ScaryTerry - yes. I'm not a fan of replacing culturally significant heroes to the black community that T'Challa became. He has a history and a fan base and a reason to still live on screen, but politics and social anxiety gave the MSheU the green light.

@TheVandalore - ……Storm and T’Challa’s romance was a short lived thing anyway and I recall many fans not even being happy that was a thing then either. Storm isn’t integral to Wakanda, neither is a romance at all for her.

@DTor91 - Not only did a lot of fans not like it because it was basically shoehorned into the story, but the writers of the X-Men and Black Panther books at the time also hated it for that reason.

@TheVandalore - First of all, I doubt it will happen. Second of all, that kind of scissor parody is already somewhere on Pornhub, I’m sure. Thirdly, it’s “MCU”.

Always felt forced ad in the comics.

The X-Men themselves “might be a few years out” (and even then, Moore does say “might”), but I think that Marvel is definitely going to continue the trend of introducing mutants in general.

Before the MCU, most of Marvel’s most popular female characters were stuck with Fox (Invisible Woman, Storm, Jean Grey). Can’t wait to see what they do with the characters but Fox’s old pay or play contracts don’t expire until 2025. There is a reason we won’t see these roles until then unless as FoX-Men multiverse variants.

I think we should have a new T'Challa introduced in the end finale of secret wars. It's so cool how he and Namor work together in the 2015 run to take on the dead army. You could introduce a variant at the end of the film when the universes collide in the new reality.

By the time Black Panther 3 arrives we can easily introduce Storm because I'm sure we will be in Phase 7 territory by then. This is more than 3-4 years we are talking here.

Shadow King and Storm would be great additions to the threequel.

It's stories like this that makes me wonder what's the point? Is Nate Moore telling us anything that we didn't already know. I mean, 'a few years away' means 2 or more years. And every indication is we won't be seeing X-Men until after Secret Wars. That film is over 3 years away. It lines up with Phase 7 starting. Nothing new at all.

Regarding the possibility of getting a new T'Challa. I don't think we will. Marvel Studios believes Chadwick Boseman is their ONLY T'Challa. But with that said, I believe we will get T'Challa's son at some point and Marvel Studios will tell T'Challa stories through that character in the future. Which could include Storm could be s a potential wife. It actually works allowing Nakia and Storm to be potential love interests to two different Black Panthers not placing one love interest over the other. My guess T'Challa's son will either be named Azari, from the 2008 cartoon character or Azzuri, T'Challa's grandfather's name.

@String - No edit button. "Which could include Storm as a potential wife."

Also, I know Azari and Assuri are names that will be hard to adjust to but they are canon from other Marvel properties. It is also possible to create an entirely new name that uses the 'T' prefix like T'Chaka or T'Challa to give more of a connection to the character to his father and grandfather.
