BLADE: Mia Goth's Role In MCU Reboot May Have Been Revealed

The trades recently announced that Mia Goth had joined the cast of Marvel Studios' upcoming Blade reboot, but didn't share any details on her role. Now, thanks to the latest episode of The Hot Mic podcast, we may know which Marvel Comics character she'll be playing - and it probably won't come as a major surprise!

As many speculated, it sounds like Goth has indeed been enlisted to play Lilith... but which one?

There are two notable villains named Lilith in the comics, and both have had dealings with the titular Daywalker. We assume this will be the Daughter of Dracula and not the demonic sorceress that debuted in the pages of Ghost Rider, but there's a chance she could be an amalgamation of both characters.

Goth has appeared in the likes of Suspiria, X, and Pearl, and most recently gave an utterly insane performance in Brandon Cronenberg's Infinity Pool.

Yann Demange recently stepped in to replace Bassam Tariq as director on Blade, and the project also brought a new writer on board, with Emmy award-winning scribe Michael Starrbury hired to pen a brand-new script for the feature.

After pausing pre-production following Tariq's departure, it seems Kevin Feige and co. decided to go back to the drawing board for a "page-one rewrite," so whatever the original plan was for the Daywalker's MCU debut (not counting his off-screen voice cameo in Eternals' post-credits scene) may have changed significantly.

Given the violent nature of vampire-slaying hero, there's been some speculation that this reboot might join Deadpool 3 as the studio's first R-rated feature. However, while Blade is expected to be dark and gritty in tone, falling on the edgier side of Marvel fare, it sounds like the aim is still to bring it in at the usual PG-13/12.

Mahershala Ali is (thankfully) still set to play the title character. Production is scheduled to begin in Atlanta later this year, with the movie dated for release on September 6, 2024.

Mia Goth is great. I hope she will continue to make cool B-movie shit besides her blockbuster payday.

That’s disappointing. Her being cast was the only thing about the new Blade movie that actually caught my attention.

She's great, but not as great as this https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/streaming-tv-rankings-march-6-12-2023-2-1235373784/ Picard will be top 3 by the time they get to episode 10. This is the best Star Trek since Voyager, sorry Enterprise lol

@bobevanz - As a Trek fan I have some problems with this season, but as an Elseworld/What if type story I am loving it. Favorite show right now. I watched half of season 1 and none of 2.

@WarMonkey - yeah it ain't perfect, and a lot probably won't hold up on a rewatch, but after a Trek drought, it's pretty damn great

Lilith is the perfect villain for a Blade movie (besides Dracula but you need to build to that).

@mountainman - Agreed. Mia Goth playing a sexy vampire lady in a Marvel movie is probably gonna make my vampire kink soooooooooo much worse lol.

@FilmGuy7878 - We don't need a third cinematic Harley in less than 10 years.
FilmGuy7878
FilmGuy7878 - 4/14/2023, 9:42 AM
@soberchimera - Well, later. WAY WAY later. For now, I just want them to take a break from Harley. I always found Margot's version to be so grating and never really captured the mix of fun and tragic that the animated series Harley was. She was just quirky for the sake of being quirky and hot for the sake of being hot.

Goth should have been cast in the first place as a more sinister, depraved version of Harley that has a strange psychotic charm to her but is in no way, a good person.

Hopefully the production problems won't be too much of a toll on the film. This is like the light at the end of the tunnel of terrible mcu films.

I hope they don't go the day walker route... let him be a guy who's resilient to vampires but otherwise a badass normal like he started out.

demery - 4/14/2023, 11:44 AM
@Slotherin - I am curious to see if Delroy Lindo's character turns out to be Jamal Afari (Blade's mentor in the comic).

Don't want the flick to be an origin story though.

Plus, we can get a damn good Terence Blanchard score if that's the case with his jazz background (to coincide with Jamal's additional gig in the comics) alongside getting more high profile projects as of late like HBO's Perry Mason and The Woman King.

Please don't pull a Hela and kill her off. Hela was awesome and we no longer have her in the MCU.
