Wesley Snipes Has Met With Marvel About Playing BLADE Again

The majority of fans loved Snipes as Blade, and have often wondered if there was any possibility the actor could reprise the role now that Marvel has control of the character. Turns out there most certainly is, though nothing is currently in development. More past the jump...

The last time Wesley Snipes suited up as the "Daywalker" was for the underwhelming Blade: Trinity, but the first 2 movies are well regarded enough that the demand is still there for him to return to the role. In past interviews the actor has spoken fondly about the character and said he would love to fang-up again if the opportunity arose, but most of us felt this was wishful thinking. Well, turns out Marvel might just be interested in putting something together... or at least, they were! "The project is controlled by Marvel and we did have a really productive and a wonderful meeting and we discussed a number of things," Snipes told Deadline while chatting about his upcoming NBC series The Player. "I don’t know where it’s on their schedule at this point, that hasn’t been decided. I guess it’s still up in the air."

Considering the fact that people are still so passionate about this 11 years after the last movie, Marvel would be smart to take another look. Still, even if Snipes doesn't get to play Blade again he's definitely open to playing another comic book character. "I've always been a fan of these pieces and adaptations and I'd be nice to be a part of the family again," he said. "But if we don’t to a 'Blade 4' or something else with Marvel, we’ll do something else."

Would you be happy to see Snipes play Blade again, or would you prefer a different actor in the role now?

If he can return that would be cool, but I don't see it happening though. If he does return I think he'd fit more on Daredevil than in the cinematic universe.

I've wanted Marvel to do a series of Netflix shows based on the supernatural elements of the Marvel universe since they announced Daredevil and the Defenders.

Having Wesley back as Blade at the start of something like that would be awesome.

Then do Ghost Rider and Moon Knight please.

IIRC Patton Oswalt said Snipes was a major league asshole on the set of Blade 3. He started fights with the other actors, he tried to get the director (Goyer) fired, and not because he's a shitty director but for personal reasons. He would only come to set for closeups, and spent the rest of his time getting baked in his trailer. Basically the guy was a giant diva and everybody hated working with him.

I'd prefer Netflix stuck with the street level world, there's so much more to explore there and the budgets work well, but a Midnight Sons movie would be amazing, Ghost Rider, Man-Thing and bringing back Snipes as Blade works for me, although recasting also works for me.

A Blade Netflix series would be good, still Wesley & the character Blade deserve a theatrical film release! It's great that he had a great meeting with Marvel.

I'd absolutely vote 'yes' to see Snipes do the role again. @MrMartyMarvel I completely agree about taking Blade to Netflix. He's one of their characters who could sustain quite a lot of stories because of the creatures that occur in his stories. At first it might not be an easy fit with DD & the others they have planned, but the crossover between 'Street Level' & 'Supernatural' is inevitable and Blade might be the bridge to connect the two.

Pass. His time is up at this point... I really don't want Grandpa Blade running around in any format.
