According to an update from IESB, the long list of contenders to play cap, has narrowed to three.

According to our Marvelous moles, it's down to three – Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan and Channing Tatum.

The Gossip Girl actor, Sebastian Stan, who we are told is the favorite to swing the star-spangled shield next July. The problem is Marvel Films big-cheese Kevin Feige has made it crystal clear (on numerous occasions) Captain America will be played by an American and Stan hails from Romania. But apparently he's done a solid enough job in his screen-tests to make the key decision-makers give second thoughts to that stance.

That is where we stand as of this moment on Captain America. With production is expected to start this coming summer in London, the final decision must be made soon.



Marvel Freshman: I want it to be Tatum, but Chris Evans would be awesome. And I hope Marvel isn't serious with the Romanian guy. He would make a better Bucky. What do you think?

I have a feeling sometime soon some small website will say that Tatum is close to being cast for Cap. Another LIE made to get fans upset. I just know that will happen.

Well if it is true and it is down to these three, I would agree Evans with Tatum a close second. I dont have a clue who the other guy is !!!!!

Evans out of these hands down, he's a good actor and he looks the part. If Tatum gets it I'll set fire to Joe Johnston's house, go back the next day and piss on his ashes.

The only reason Channing will the part is if Marvel turns into Fox and decides to only cast actors with a high box-office draw. I don't wanna be at the theatre watching the cap movie with a bunch of horny preteen girls giggling their heads off everytime Channing recites one of his lines.

this CAP will end up like the rest...PURE CRAP.
Cap seems to be having the same type problems
that Superman has been having. just cant seem
to get an exciting ,well written movie from
start to finish in production yet.
Maybe Im jumpimg the gun about the writing part,
but the casting has me a little worried. I could be
wrong about CAP and I hope so, but this trio doesnt
give me much hope.

Unless Marvel has been misleading us the whole time...has to be an American...going to be an unknown...then I don't take this report too seriously. If this were more than rumor, then it would have to be Evans, which I am fine with. He has played some diverse roles and has better acting chops and a better frame to put on more muscle than the other two.

I think the whole "Cap will be an unknown" went out the window when they plain couldn't find anyone! Seems like Johnston and co are getting desperate..I mean they have to be to put a call out to that acting vacuum Tatum. That being said, all of this could still be total bullshit.

It's funny, this seems like the opposite of the GL casting. For GL, we got the 3 top contenders in one day, along with a bunch of actors who screen tested.

For Cap, we get a lot of screen testers, then finally we get a Top 3.

Evans for Cap. That 12 year old Stan looks pretty much like the exact opposite of Cap, and Tatum can't act to save his life. I honestly can not understand the rationale of anyone who prefers either one of these clowns over Evans.
