Captain America: The First Avenger "bookends"

We have been informed that Captain America: The First Avenger will incorporate bookend segments. We can speculate as to what these opening and closing segments will depict…

The history of Captain America has him seemingly plunge to his demise within the icy depths of the ocean during World War II. He dies in an attempt to defuse a HYDRA bomb. The events in Captain America: The First Avenger leads to the culmination of the Avengers. The film will include beginning and ending caps. The following is my speculation as to what these bookend sequences could involve:

Commencing bookend
The movie's opening sequence begins in present day with a Nick Fury lead endeavour to locate the whereabouts of Steve Rogers, the patriotic soldier who gave his life for his country. A large marine research vessel helmed by Fury, scourers the oceans searching for Rogers. The vessel is equipped with state of the art echolocation technology. Joining Fury is agent Coulsen, various SHIELD agents and perhaps Tony Stark (although his presence is not entirely necessary). SHIELD are aware of the heroic nature of Rogers and his sacrifice. They have need of Rogers and his abilities. Finally, the determined crew locate their objective below the frigid waters. They retrieve what appears to be Rogers entombed in ice. The camera zooms in and the sequence essentially ends at this point. The picture fades to black. This effect introduces the main core of the film.

Main feature
The black fades out and the camera zooms out to reveal that the movie has reverted to the past. The timeline is now set during World War 2. Steve Roger's transformation into Captain America and his heroic exploits are related. The rest of the movie unfolds. The primary plot ends with Rogers' apparent death whilst successfully detonating a bomb before it reaches its destination. He falls helplessly into the watery depths. The main narrative has ended. The focus zooms in on Rogers as his body sinks sadly into the ocean depths. The picture fades to black.

Concluding bookend
The black fades out. The movie’s timeline shifts back to the present – to a few hours after the retrieval of Rogers’ body. The final or ending-cap sequence intiates from this point. It depicts a thawed out Steve Rogers who is amazingly not dead despite the time he spent submerged. The freezing temperature has kept his body in stasis. He awakens on board the SHIELD ship and is confused as he no longer is aware of where he is or what the actual date is. He is startled to learn that the War concluded more than 60 years previously. Rogers begins to acclimatize to his new surroundings. Nick Fury introduces himself. Rogers is amazed at modern technology. He is introduced to Tony Stark, Thor and Hawkeye. Fury informs Rogers of the “Avengers Initiative” and hopes that Rogers will join. Rogers is made aware of a looming threat. This last sequence shows Rogers’ initial interactions with his new colleagues. This concluding chapter (or bookend) is fundamentally an introduction to The Avengers movie. The movie finishes.

The above describes my imaging of the presentation of Captain America: The First Avenger.
