CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER Directors Tease AGENT CARTER Involvement

Anthony and Joe Russo are already hard at work developing Captain America 3 for a 2016 release, but they will first tackle two episodes of Agent Carter. They talk about that in detail here, as well as how they became involved and the benefits of a shorter season. Check it out!

It was revealed at this year's San Diego Comic-Con that Captain America: The Winter Soldier directors Anthony and Joe Russo would helm the second and third episode of Agent Carter for ABC. It came as exciting news for the eight episode series which will help bridge the gap between the first and second halves of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. In a recent interview with Collider, Anthony had this to say about how they became involved in the series and what they hope to bring to the table. "This is very much a baby project of Louis D’Esposito who’s one of the co-heads at Marvel. He directed the Marvel One-Shot that the series is based on, so he asked us. It’s kind of nice to get the people who have been connected to the Captain America storyline involved in helping to launch that show about a character who’s so critical to this universe."

As for how they feel about working on a show which consists of only eight episodes (although as True Detective and Fargo recently proved, that's more than enough time to tell a great story), Joe says, "[We] love that they’re doing a limited run of it because it’s easier to maintain quality over a lower amount of episodes. I think everything’s lined up for a really, really good show there." Anthony meanwhile, adds: "We’ve been saying this for years, because working in network television it’s so hard to deliver that many episodes; it’s brutal—especially with a show that has an ambitious production dimension to it. It’s crushing."

Talk then turned to just how much involvement they'll have with Agent Carter, and as you might expect, Captain America 3 is going to keep them so busy that they won't be getting involved in the writers room. However, Joe did reveal that, "There’s been a little bit of just general conversations about our experience in television and potential pitfalls, things to look out for. Creatively, Markus and McFeely are heavily involved, D’Esposito is heavily involved. We’ll get a script two weeks before we shoot and then we’ll give our input." They would then confirm that Captain America: The First Avenger director Joe Johnston will indeed be helming the fourth episode. You can see the full interview by clicking on the link below. I'm looking forward to Agent Carter...well, two really supple, beautiful reasons, but more than that, think it could be a great show if done right...

So it's really JUST a limited run show?
Interesting, I hope the 8 episodes are at a much better quality and storytelling than most of SHIELD was.

Maybe we can get a new limited show on ABC every year, that would be pretty cool.

I could make a crack at the Agent Carter show being a "period piece" but that would just be immature.

I think it is intended to be limited in the sense of 'every season will be short' not as in 'this is a single mini-series'.

Also, I like having the Russo Bros and Joe Johnston directing episodes...the more pieces of the MCU that get directed by returning directors, the more cohesive it will all feel.

That being said, Agents of SHIELD is the show they should be cutting down the episode number on, and it is the show that they should be trying to get MCU directors on board for. It is their flagship, tie-in TV property, it should be getting their strongest efforts.

I'm excited for this series. The Agent Carter One-Shot was pretty awesome and I like the character, and period settings. Hope we see a good mix of familiar faces as well like Dum Dum and Howard Stark.

No, @GeneralDrift is just another lucky soul that realizes Gadot's beauty. Under my guidance, I can teach him to become more than a user. I can teach him to be a legend. I will form my own Blackjack Troop and mold each user into a miniature version of myself. It won't be easy, and it won't happen overnight, but we will rise from the darkness and eliminate ComicBookMovie of the wretched filth that riddles these comment sections. It will surpass the accomplishments of the Dead Rabbits Gang, except this time we set out to benefit ComicBookMovie, not bring it to its knees in despair. We will film the comment sections with respectable users, not mimicking assholes (which, I think most everybody will agree is my fault). My future holds a path of redemption, a path of good will, a path of Gadot. Blackjack's Troop will do this site wonders!

@Marvel1997 Season 2 of AoS is being broken into two parts, the first part is 10 consecutive episodes, with a winter break, then they comeback with 12 consecutive shows. The winter break is when Agent Carter will be aired. So for 34 week Marvel will have a new episode airing.
