Micro-News: Chris Evans Talks WINTER SOLDIER, Cobie Smulders On WONDER WOMAN & Colin Farell On WARCRAFT

Re-shoots for Captain America: The Winter Soldier are almost complete. Cobie Smulders talks Wonder Woman. Colin Farell still not sure about the Warcraft movie.

Total Film spoke to Cobie Smulders prior to Gal Gadot being revealed to have landed the role of Wonder Woman in Batman vs Superman. Smulders is voicing Wonder Woman in The Lego Movie but would she be up for playing the Princess of Themyscira in a live-action movie? Said Smulders, "Wonder Woman is such an amazing character. But she's very iconic, so it's scary stuff. It's scary stuff with big shoes. I'm open to everything. I think it would be awesome, but who knows. I'm happy doing these great films like Delivery Man and being Maria Hill [in Avengers]. If Wonder Woman comes up, I'll think about it then. Obviously I'd love to be a part of it if anything ever happened. But there's nothing going on." Obviously, Gadot went on to win the role and it's unlikely Smulders was ever even considered. Still, her words about the role being scary for any actress has a certain amount of truth to them.

Chris Evans (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) is currently filming reshoots [or pick-ups] but there's only 1 week left to go. UPDATE: It's unclear whether Evans is referring to Captain America: The Winter Soldier or his debut feature film as a director, 1:30 Train. Either way, reshoots/pick-ups for Winter Soldier are either in progress or gearing up to start fairly soon according to HitFix.

The main cast for Duncan Jones' Warcraft movie was recently announced [Paula Patton, Ben Foster, Dominic Cooper, Travis Fimmel, Rob Kazinsky and Toby Kebbell] but Colin Farell's name was not on the list. That was surprising as Farell was long rumored to be up for one of the leads. Is he officially not joining the project or are negotiations still ongoing? Talking to ScreenRant, Farell commented "Don’t know what is happening yet. I read the script, the script is phenomenal but I don’t know what is happening."

Smulders is the only thing I don't like (actually I hate) about the avengers. She is such a lightweight compared to the rest of the cast. And I mean that in terms of acting ability, not actual body weight.

She should have said I'll never be wonder woman, but the fact that she said we'll what happens clearly makes it sound like she thought there was a chance.
She would have been worse than that girl from Friday night lights was in the wonder woman pilot. You know that pilot was utter crap. We should have been watching aquaman right now, that pilot was awesome!

Cap2 really needs to resurrect the thrill of phase 2 because so far I honestly believe most fans are barely impressed. Guardians will be plain good fun which is cool with me. However, Age of Ultron needs to be something hella serious! Get rid of that light comedic tone and you've got yourself a REAL threat. Seeing that Whedon originally wanted to go this route for the first Avengers film makes me very confident in what he'll deliver. PLEASEEEE DON'T DUMB DOWN ULTRON FOR THE GENERAL AUDIENCE MARVEL!

@tricklove187 Snowpiercer was done a while ago. They already have a final cut. The only other movie Chris is signed up for at the moment is in pre-production so he could only be referring to the reshoots for Cap 2.

And now the important question: Will Cap really start dating Widow? If yes, why?? Bros before hoes Cap, why would you do this to Hawkeye??

And I don't think I see Cobie as Wonder Woman. I like her as an actress but I'm not sure. She would have been WW in Whedon's movie right? Well, I didn't even like the script. It was pretty bad for something that Whedon wrote...

Instead of an Agent Carter spinoff, Marvel can make a spinoff of Winter Soldier or Falcon.

Totally agree with BlackNerd! High hopes for CA:TWS and A:AOU as well of course but I'm more than ready for Marvel to tone down the quippy, snarky humor! Not eliminate it all together but rein it in, fercrissakes! Hopefully it's not going to take a Marvel movie to totally bomb for them to get a clue about this. And hopefully it won't be Guardians of the Galaxy, which is a movie I want and expect to have a fair amount of humor.

But god help us, GotG will be a huge hit and Marvel will think more humor is the key to success and the tone of all their movies and tv shows will move towards a 'RDJ on meth' kinda thing.......*sigh*. Daredevil, Dr Strange and Black Panther spewing one liners.....UGH!!

FINALLY someone actually uses the term "pickups" rather than reshoots. "Reshoot" insinuates that something is wrong with that was shot, and sends nerds into fits. Pickups is something most major motion pictures have factored into the schedule.

Lol, I knew someone would say this and I'm glad you did my brother. I'm all for the humor and fun but if it takes away from the film (Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World and some bits of Avengers *but that's just me*) I know I won't be the only one who wouldn't be impressed. Am I saying that every marvel movie needs to e the tone of the DC Universe? Heck No! But I actually need to feel what the characters are feeling within the movie to make me really feel like the characters are facked! Its about making the film fit into the conflict and not even just plot wise but character wise as well. Ultron is artificial intelligent, calculating your every move and throwing everything you use against him right back at you. But moreover I want CBM to chill with the spoilers. They showed everything (detailed and all) about The Avengers on this sure without even having to click on the threads. Maybe that's why the suprised in Avenfers didn't really shock me because everything was blurted out all over this site...smh

All in all, less funny and more fearful moments in A:AoU

The humor thing is just something the trolls decided to pick up and run with. Seriously, there was just as much humor in phase 1 as 2.
TheRationalNerd
TheRationalNerd - 12/15/2013, 8:45 AM
I don't get the whole humor thing. Iron Man 1 and 2 were full of humor = No complaints (Iron Man 2 gets complaints for completely different and much more valid reasons)

Exactly, Iron Man 1 had the perfect balance. Iron Man 2 was alright but some of the parts really made me say "really?" (Iron man vs. Warmachine scene, When War Machine uses "the ex-wife and the missed makes a *fart sound* when it doesn't work? lol Whiplash and his Bird?) iron man 2 wasn't honestly that bad. I actually favor it more than Iron Man 3. But Iron Man 3 just didn't feel like the sequel we all deserved. It felt more like a film Marvel knew they had to hurry up and make to start off Phase 3 with huge cash and they actually succeed but at what cost? A super LAME villain? War Machine getting the back burner and a horrible adaption of the Extremis storyline? No...just no. Marvel's better than that and they deserved a slap on the wrist after that one.

Thor wasn't bad either but I just felt that it didn't have the impact Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk. But I won't really hate on it because it was a pretty hard film to adapt. Thor: The Dark World was an upgrade but Jane Foster, Darcy and the Doc were just LAME and it felt as if the Doc was hugely dumbed down from the first Thot. People even sucked their teeth when he kept walking around like a complete lunatic. It was just dumb and mad corny...smh Malekeith deserved more screen time than the humans and that's all I'll say about that.

It's not EVEN trolling. And phase 2 still has yet to be completed so that can be determined afterwards. I didn't say anything about the other Phases I was speaking primarily about Age of Ultron and the films we got in Phase 2 so far. It's not like the characters are all standing at a mic doing stand-up comedy the entire film but these films just have a strong GA feel to them is all I'm saying. Was phase 1 perfect? No, but that didn't stop me from wnjoying the films. The only point in making here is that the General Audience are all aware of these characters/films and now is the time I think that us REAL fans get the credit/films we deserve. I don't get on every marvel post and bash marvel for their films or humor at that I'm just asking to die it down a bit for Avengers 2 in regards to Ultron being the big baddie!

Sometimes a humorous moment is made even funnier when it follows something startling or dramatic. It's something a lot of movies do, not just comic book movies, or even Marvel movies.

@0mega

I hope you're right.

I suppose it had a lot to do with the trailer, but in the build up to IM3's release many people thought it was going to be considerably more grim than the previous two films.

I personally didn't have too many complaints about the constant one-liners and pratfalls (I think the film had bigger problems than that), but if CA:TWS does take a much more somber route, you won't see me missing the abundance of said one-liners and pratfalls.

Why can't the tone of the film just match the tone of the character? A Plastic Man flick (should there ever be such a thing...) shouldn't have the same feel as a Batman flick and vice versa. I kinda feel that there should have been a huge difference between a Superman film and a Batman film (lookin at you, WB...). And Marvel is only slightly better at differentiating between characters. A Cap flick is a bit (lil bit) more serious than an Iron man movie with Thor just not being taken seriously at all. (This is NOT a pro Marvel OR DC statement btw...)

Really looking forward to Captain America The Winter Soldier. I'm assuming there wont be a whole lot of humor in this film since it deals with SHIELD, spies, assassins and threats against the world.

Some humor is okay but i prefer serious drama's while watching comic book films.

I'm glad there's humor in them BUT @TheBlackNerd is right they should switch up every now and then instead of doing the same thing. Since Age of Ultron is supposed to be a more personal thing I have no doubt at all it will be the darkest of the MCU. Can't wait.

Humor was always there. During serious moments too. people just want to bitch sometimes.

All I hear on here is "Wah I want films to be more serious" "Wah why are they trying to be funny" They are super hero movies! they have it all humor, drama, suspense.Deal with it. They should reflect the character. Read an Iron Man or Thor comic collection and get at me. If it is dry, sarcastic or just straight goofy it is there. Sometimes I think people bitch based off films and never look at the source material.
