Captain America: The First Avenger" will focus on the early days of the Marvel Universe when Steve Rogers volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America. As Captain America, Rogers joins forces with Bucky Barnes and Peggy Carter to wage war on the evil HYDRA organization, led by the villainous Red Skull.

Ah, my brave Brigadiers, tomorrow (Friday) thy Generalissimo hath a most important mission. Tell thee I shall, in confidence—

Whilst the rest of yon world goeth about its business, thy legendary Leader shall be fitted with costume for his Captain America cameo

I knoweth not what role I’ll play, but of this thou canst be certain—no matter how brief my time on screen, my skill shall make it epic

A personal message to Chris Evans, talented star of Captain America: Fear thee not, my friend; ne’er shall I upstage thee. Excelsior!

Starring Chris Evans as Captain America, Sebastian Stan as Bucky, Hugo Weaving as Red Skull, Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, Tommy Lee Jones as Col. Chester Phillips, Stanley Tucci as Abraham Erskine and Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark, Captain America: The First Avenger will be released in 3D on July 22.

I love Stan as much as any other guy on this website but doesn't he cameo only in movies of characters that he's created himself? Why not ask Joe Simon to cameo, he's still alive and kicking.

i thought he would of already filmed it,i'm surprised.

@ kingkazma

i know what you're saying, but the captain america that we all know & love was reintroduced into comics during the 60s by stan lee.

so he does deserve a little credit.

I'd be very surprised if there wasnt at least a tiny little Joe Simon easter egg in there somewhere. Remember "stanley's" restaurant in Incredible Hulk? lol

Why does he have a cameo in this movie? It's kinda insulting.

Stan may not have created Cap, but there are other characters in the movie that he did create like Dum Dum Dugan, Chester Phillips, Howling Commandos

Besides, Stan's first ever writen work in a comic was a short story in I believe Captain America #3. I agree that Simon should have a cameo, but Lee's work with the character is conciderable.

What some of you guys seem to be forgetting is that Stan Lee was the one who pretty much created the Captain America that we all know and love today. While Joe Simon definitely deserves a nod for coming up with the idea in the first place, it was Stan who brought him back into the modern Marvel Universe and made him an Avenger. A cameo is the least he deserves.

Good for him, doing what he loves. Who else can say they have gotten that opportunity?

Stan SHOULDN'T get a cameo in the film. Yes, he help revive the character but he didn't create him. Now if it was a sequel during modern times then fine but no. Once again Stan is taking all the credit for himself to inflate his ego while Jack Kirby and Joe Simon the ACTUAL creators get left in the dust. -_- At least I hope they get mentioned in the film, but with Stan's cameo there's going to be continuity problems... for the third time. Ugh, and don't forget he said he's going to cameo in films of characters he didn't even create. >_<

Stan Lee kept the Marvel Universe going, period. He promoted the hell out of it for decades when it had no online fanbase / 'geek' support as it does today..through whatever publicity means he could leverage. Plus he generated a million stories and had a hand in creating either every major character, or making them relevant (hi Captain America) .......plus he gives awesome quotes that go far beyond "Yep, i have a cameo.".........he deserves everything good in life.

What's worse than Cap still stuck in ice? 50s cap.....(shudders). Who's to say they didnt invite Joe Simon on-set? I doubt they'd snob him.

plus..who didnt love Frank Miller's cameo in Daredevil? lol. Same goes if theres ever a Claremont cameo in an X-Men movie, or a Straczynski cameo in a Thor sequel. its all in good fun mate.

SCREW ALL THE HATERS, STAN THE MAN DESERVES A CAMEO IN EVERY MOVIE!!! GIVE HIM A CAMEO IN DARK KNIGHT RISES OR THE JUSTICE LEAGUE MOVIE IF HE WANTS ONE.

Seriously though there isn't one person on this site that wouldn't love to have Stan as their grandfather.

He may not have created every character in the Marvel universe, Stan is the permanent "character" of Marvel. He is Marvel...and that's something DC will never have.

Stan is the man and the face of Marvel Comics. No matter if he created every character or not the majority of the Marvel Universe was created under his watch. Even when the sad day comes and he passes away he will still be the most recognizable image associated with Marvel. He should have a cameo in everything Marvel puts on film, they are fun and more than anything else they show respect for the legacy of Marvel and Stan. Like Sanderman said already I too for some reason hear his voice when I read something I know he said. Plus I agree DC does not have a face outside of the big three- Bats, Supes and Wonder Woman.

@ChesterPhillips

NO. It's not contradictory. Was it that difficult to understand?

"created the Captain America that we all know and love today" - as in brought him back from the dead. Teamed him up with the avengers.

"Joe Simon definitely deserves a nod for coming up with the idea in the first place" - ACTUALLY invented him.

Man, you're bright, SON.

Before Stan Lee, there were no comic book fans as a group, 'comic books' were seen as rubbish, and there was no such thing as a favorite artist among many other things. Stan was the one who made Jack Kirby a name that people remembered, because before Stan no one knew Jack Kirby's name. And while I am on this subject no one knew anyone else name either except for the guys themselves who worked in that business.

These cameo roles that Stan does are only noticed by the comic book fan's who happen to recognize him. In the films he is just another one line supporting actor and there is nothing that indicates who he is. To say that he's stealing someone's thunder redefines the word absurd in such a way that Webster is turning over in his grave.

Stan Lee is an icon in the world of comics, he made comics cool, and the entire industry owes a great deal to Stan.

Once again, people are missing the point that his cameo is meant to be FUN! He loves doing it, we love him doing it, and in no way is he saying that he wants Simon's thunder.

Its a nod to all of us who shared in the universe he helped create. This universe is on-screen, and so should he be.

FUN! NOT MONEY OR CREDIT! Give the old guy a break. I look forward to spotting him.
