Update! Marvel confirms Thor and Captain America Games in 2011. . . and possibly Iron Fist?

Sega will produce Marvel's two blockbuster movie tie-in video games.

According to Marvel Entertainment's latest quarterly financial report, the two games will arrive alongside their movie counterparts in 2011. Though originally announced in April of 2007, it seems Marvel will attempt to capitalize on the larger fan base the two movies will undoubtedly bring in.

This will be the first headlining game and movie for Marvel's character Thor; whereas Captain America had a direct to video movie released in 1990 and a non-related game titled Captain America and the Avengers.

Sega is responsible for handling Marvel's other movie based games Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk and the soon to be release Iron Man 2. Though Sega is the most likely candidate to have a hand in a future Avengers game, a formal announcement has yet to be made.

Marvel goes out of it's way to trademark the character Iron Fist for video game use.

The trademark could be used in various aspects (toys and action figures, animated feature, or a solo game for example). Could this mean an Iron Fist movie or video game is in the works?

What do you think?

Great news!! If the film is primarily set in Asgard, the game will be so much better.

BillyBlack-
That's pretty much ALL they do now. I don't think they make hardware anymore like kiosk games and consoles.

I beg to differ shh, superman 64 takes the cake in my mind. You had to hold down like four buttons to get him airborne and then somehow manage the joystick to control it. The best part of the game was the box, it was all blue with the big S on it.

Although I hop the thor game will be good, i loved the asguard level in the first ultimate alliance.

Superman 64 was the worst comic book video game.

Others would be Batman: Dark Tomorrow, Iron Man, the 2 Fantastic Four games (both matching the sh*t quality of the movies), Ghost Rider (also matching the sh*t quality of the movie), and Aquaman.

After the last Ironman game I have lost all hope for Sega movie related games. I would rather spend my money on a happy meal and get an Ironman toy. Sega does this solely for a quick buck and doesn't care whether the game is shit or not. Enough douchebags will buy it so they can keep making more crappy movie games.

I really enjoyed playing as Iron Fist in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 so a solo game for that character could be pretty fun...a movie though? Hell yeah!!!

I'm down because it seems the only games I play any more are sports, wrestling, mma, and comic book related games. This will just be another reason for me to be shitty at my job and gain a few pounds, in soda and potato chips. heh heh heh.

I've read some of the Immortal Iron Fist graphic novels. Amazing, I love the character. He's probably one of the most underrated character in all of comic books. I might be Iron Fist next halloween. Or next March on a weekend sometime whichever feels right.

When it comes to Aquaman, I think after he lost his hand, went through that crazy spell, and started to look like a deep sea Conan the Barbarian in the comics he was pretty interesting. If you think about it, if you were the King of anything, you would act a little batty and give yourself just cause to do so.

Boy, they announced the game and the movie is also comin' up fast, they'll need to call Jensen Ackles fast cause he'll need to do voice overs for the game before he starts filming ;P

Michael Jai White is always associated with African-American superheroes. I personally don't think he's a good enough actor for the role. Yeah, he's trained in MMA and can actually fight and stuff and that's cool. BUT in my eyes, you need more in my eyes to cast a fairly deep character than an okay actor who can actually fight. I personally would take Tyrese Gibson because he has mainstream appeal, he can act, and is great in action movies (ala Equalibrium and the Transformers movies). He'll be able to deliver in scenes where I don't think White will always be able to. I think you need a more main stream guy to play him because he's not that well known of a character in the first place. This will get people asking who he is and wanting to research the character if you get somebody like Tyrese in that role.
