Okay, when I first saw Chris Evens on that famous ET cover I was like, "Woah, that's Captain America!" I still think that they did an amazing job on the suit and I'm really glad the changed it a bit... but Captain America will come into modern day in Avengers, so why not have Tony change it around for him a bit?

Okay, this is the movie costume of now:

And this is what I'd do with it in Avengers:

Okay, now you have a million questions like what sort of material the suit is made out of etc., but don't worry I'll answer hopefully most of them and if you post in the comments I'll try to answer them too.

On the Helmet: Yes, it is still a helmet, only more like a cross between a motorcycle helmet and a modern soldier's helmet since he didn't have a helmet in the first picture it was hard making him have one so don't be to critical it would look a ton better in a real picture.

On the Armor: I wanted to do the classic Captain America image so he had to have the armor like this. The way to explain it for the film is to say that Tony came up with some high tech Dragon Skin armor, but designed it so it wouldn't restrict Cap's movement thus explaining why he isn't wearing it on the whole costume.

On the Dark Red Strips/Straps and Dark Red Gloves: Yes, the strips are still straps, but I wanted to do the classic 3 strips as to make the suit more recognizable, and this again is easily explained. The straps would be to hold on his armor, a sort of harness so he wouldn't be restricted to typical body armor (in the film you could probably show him buckling the armor on and thus would explain this for the critics). The gloves are no different just a change in color. Now, for the change in color, personally the straps on the First Avenger suit, are too light red IMO, and while the gloves have a slight touch of red, but I wanted more of a hint of red. And so I did both just a very dark sort of burgundy.

On the Darker Blue on the Armor and Pants: Again, while I still liked the First Avenger suit I thought it would be nice to go with a darker blue as the real comic book character.

Nothing else is changed that I can think of besides that I repainted his shield and did a bad job of it. But oh well. What do you guys think? And please don't be too critical as I'm very new to photo editing.

UPDATE:

For some that said the colors were too dark, on the first picture they weren't really true to color they where darkened just like in the poster. This is more what it would look like in normal lighting:

Sorry to all that didn't like it. Also on the armor guys, did any of you google Dragon Skin Armor? It looks almost exactly like it so the chain mail thing doesn't count, the armor isn't chain mail, it would be something like Dragon Skin Armor! By the way guys this picture wouldn't look that bad if it was a real picture, remember how bad cap's set costume looked like...
