In a marvelous turn of events (pun intended), Marvel has gotten fans and general audiences alike pumped up for their first (solo) female outing. Following an unforgettable tease in Avengers: Infinity War, Captain Marvel has emerged as the key to defeating Thanos, and from the looks of the trailer, the heroine is definitely worthy of the title.
With glimpes of a deaged Sam Jackson, the glorious return of Phil Coulson on the big screen, and the involvement of the Kree, Marvel is very much connecting the dots of the whole MCU. In addition to looking like a satisfying experience for fans, its cultural significance is shining through social media as well. In fact, the film racked up 109 million views in its first 24 hours, from a combination of various outlets throughout the internet. Marvel has flaunted the achievement on social media, thanking audiences for their ecstatic support.
Compared to other Marvel trailers, the film stands above giants. The current top viewed MCU trailers within a 24 hour time frame are:
1. Avengers: Infinity War - Trailer 1: 230 mil
2. Avengers: Infinity War - Trailer 2: 179 mil
3. Thor: Ragnorok - Trailer 1: 136 mil
4. Captain Marvel - Trailer 1: 109 mil
5. Captain America: Civil War - Trailer 2: 95 mil
It is worth noting that Captain Marvel was 3 million away from overtaking Star Wars: The Force Awakens to be in the top ten of all time. This bodes well for the film, making a $100 million opening very plausible.
