CAPTAIN MARVEL 2 Gets An Official Release Date Following Massive Marvel Phase 4 Delays

With Marvel Studios' Phase 4 undergoing some huge changes, there's some good news as Captain Marvel 2 finally gets an official release date after previously being rumoured for 2022. Check it out...

The 2020/2021 release schedule has undergone more seismic shifts in response to the COVID-19 pandemic today, with the entire Marvel Studios Phase 4 slate pushed back and Disney completely shaking up its calendar. We do have some long overdue good news, however, as Captain Marvel 2 has officially been given a release date.

The sequel to the 2019 release has taken the slot previously held by an Untitled Marvel movie on July 29th, 2022, but has been brought forward slightly to July 8th, 2022.

That's right, an upcoming blockbuster has actually been given an earlier release date and not a later one!

As we've mentioned, Thor: Love and Thunder has taken the February 18th, 2022 slot which was previously reserved for another Untitled Marvel movie, so it's possible that's when Captain Marvel 2 was originally going to be released, and a currently unrevealed film was being lined up for July.

Marvel Studios has had to shake things up in a major way, though, and we now have to hope that Hollywood is able to get back to work sooner rather than later and that theaters can re-open their doors. If not, these delays are likely to be even more severe.

There's currently no word on whether Disney is planning to postpone the likes of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and WandaVision, both of which are supposed to be hitting Disney+ later this year (neither of them have finished shooting).

Are you excited for Captain Marvel 2?

@XMenGiveItToYa - Hopefully it fixes the problems of the first film, hopefully it does for Captain Marvel what Captain America The Winter Soldier did for Captain America, I love the first Captain America, but Winter Soldier is one of the best films of the mcu

Secret Invasion, please.

@MCUKnight11 - don't you think that would be something to build up to over a phase or 2.

@MCUKnight11 - As Skrulls have already been shown hiding among earthlings and elsewhere... is there really a point? The invasion is already "not so secret". Especially since Fury has known about it since the 90s.

@MCUKnight11 - Avengers 5 should be Secret Invasion. I want see to Super Skrull vs Black Panther in the big screen

@MCUKnight11 - I’d rather see it much further down the road after the FF and X-men have joined the party. One of the main reasons the series had any real bearings was how much history was involved. We just don’t have that yet.

@JonC - Well the point would be to show how they Ilfratrait monopolize divide and conquer Avengers and other heroes just by using their shape shifting skills.

@LordWaldo - Black Panther and Captain Marvel’s box office gross says otherwise.

@LordWaldo - What type of logic is it exactly you are using there? Because a Transformers movie isn’t even in the top 20 highest grossing.

@BillCipher - But here’s the thing. Your labelling Cap the king based on what, exactly? Your own opinion? Is that what we do? Handing the crown to whoever you’re feeling at the time?

Pay Black Panther and Captain Marvel their dues. At is stands, they’re the highest grossing solo male and female comic book movies, making them the undisputed king and queen.

@LordWaldo - Box office is the only argument based in real logic and fact. You’re giving Cap the crown based on nothing but you’re own personal bias. Black Panther EARNED the crown by besting everyone else.

@PlusUltra - Why is Captain Marvel the queen of CBM? Because her solo made a billion? If that's the case, fine, numbers don't lie.

But in terms of quality... LOL.
FireandBlood
FireandBlood - 4/3/2020, 12:38 PM
@TheJustinHammer - Quality’s got nothing to do with who’s on top, but considering the amount of accolades Black Panther achieved, Cap hasn’t exactly got him beat on that front either.
