Captain Marvel was released in 2019, meaning it will have been over four years since Carol Danvers starred in her own solo movie by the time The Marvels hits theaters in 2023.
Of course, this is more of a team-up that anything else as Carol looks set to be joined by Ms. Marvel and Spectrum for a cosmic adventure that may have a bigger impact on the wider MCU than we initially expected. According to the Heavy Spoilers YouTube channel (via The Direct), The Marvels will be an important part of The Multiverse Saga.
While we're taking this with a pinch of salt, they claim that Kamala Khan's bangles actually have the power to "pull things across from other dimensions," something her series hinted at when the Clandestines plotted to use them to return home. In other words, the Noor Dimension may not be the only reality they can tap into.
We've suspected that the bangles might be tied to Kang the Conqueror for a while now, and with the Ten Rings also seemingly connected to them and the villain, Phase 5 might see this puzzle finally start to take shape.
Interestingly, the video goes on to claim that Ms. Marvel's bangles can also pull "characters and resources" from across the Multiverse.
That could be key to future adventures, though the report gets more than a little spoilery by noting that they'll trigger an incursion in The Marvels that "will lead to bigger things" when we get to Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.
We'll see what happens, but with so many complaints from fans that Phase 4 has lacked the MCU's normal level of connectivity, it seems the next lot of movies and TV shows will change that.
The Marvels is set to be released in theaters on July 28, 2023.
