In less than two weeks, Marvel Studios will have released their first ever female-led super hero title in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That movie is, of couse,
Captain Marvel, and fans can't wait to see Carol hit the skies and the bad guys before joining up with the remaining heroes in
Avengers: Engame in two months.
However, despite the hype surrounding Ms. Danvers and her new movie, talk has recently escalated regarding more diversity in the Marvel Cinematic Universe going forward. With the massive success of
Black Panther last Februrary, and now
Captain Marvel looking to be a guaranteed hit, fans are wondering what other minority heroes could take the stage in the near future.
One of the names that comes up over and over again is Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, the first Muslim character to headline a Marvel comic. Kamala was, after all, inspired by none other than Carol Danvers so her inclusion must be imminent, right?
Here is what Kevin Feige had to say in an interview with ComicBook.com regarding the hero and her place in the connected universe, as well as whether or not she's in
Captain Marvel.
"No, I think she's a contemporary story. I don't think she was a little kid in 1990. I'm not sure she was born in 1995. This is the first step towards introducing her hero is how you begin to bring her about at some point."
So, while it doesn't appear that she will be popping up in the first
Captain Marvel film, there is definitely a plan to introduce the hero to The MCU at some point. What are your thoughts on this? Check out the trailer for
Captain Marvel, below!
