CAPTAIN MARVEL Looks Set To Commence Production In January Of 2018; Brie Larson Comments on The Role
We expected Captain Marvel to begin shooting early next year to make its release date, and that would now seem to have been confirmed. Plus, Brie Larson comments on her approach to the character.
If a recent update over at My Entertainment World is accurate, it looks like Marvel's Captain Marvel is set to begin filming on January 8 of next year in Atlanta, where Avengers: Infinity War is currently shooting. Though this hasn't been officially confirmed, it does make sense given the movie's planned March 2019 release date.
Don't pay too much attention to the synopsis, however, as that's just a description of the comic book incarnation of the character.
In addition, star Brie Larson has spoken about her take on Carol Danvers while doing press for Kong: Skull Island.
During an interview with Collider, the actress was asked if she'd be carrying any traits over from her Skull Island character to embody The Captain in Marvel's first female-led superhero movie and had the following to say:
"For me, I believe that just seeing women be strong and tough is not answering the question of what a female hero looks like. Women have their own set of skills that are worth exploring and seeing on screen. I feel like it’s too easy to just say, “We’ll just change the name of this male character to a female, but have her do all the same things that a male does.” I don’t believe in that. I think there’s something else. I think there’s more to women than that. Mason (in Kong: Skull Island) is a great example of that, and Captain Marvel will be another great example of that and of exploring deeper how women lead and how that is different and unique."
A director for Captain Marvel has yet to be announced, but that doesn't mean the studio doesn't have one! Keep an eye on CBM for updates.
