It's been clear since the teaser trailer that Captain Marvel won't feature a traditional origin story as it appears as if we'll be learning about Carol Danvers' past right alongside her. Now, during an interview at the British Academy Britannia Awards, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige was quick to reiterate that, confirming that fans should expect the unexpected.
"It takes place in the 1990s and while it is an origin story of our hero, it is a very different type of origin story which we’re excited to unveil to audiences," he teased, adding that the Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck directed movie has "come together extremely well."
"[Larson] does a tremendous job. Sam Jackson is a very different version of Nick Fury, does an amazing job, the entire cast — this one is very different and very exciting," Feige concluded. Considering the fact Captain Marvel takes place in the past, common sense says that we can expect it to tie into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in some expected ways, hence why Fury is along for the ride.
