CAPTAIN MARVEL Star Brie Larson Confirms MCU Actresses Have Pitched All-Female Team-Up Movie To Kevin Feige

Avengers: Endgame star Brie Larson confirms that she and her fellow female cast members have pitched an A-Force style movie to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, and offers an update on what's going on.

It's no secret that some of the female members of the Avengers: Endgame cast approached Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige during production to pitch an all-female team-up movie, and now Captain Marvel star Brie Larson has talked more about what happened, just how serious those discussions were, and what might come next.

"It is something," the actress said before asking the interviewer, "Well what do you mean truly discussed?" When she replied with "You tell me," Larson added: "I will say that a lot of the female cast members from Marvel walked up to Kevin and we were like, 'We are in this together, we want to do this.' What that means, I have no idea."

"You know, I’m not in charge of the future of Marvel, but it is something that we’re really passionate about and we love, and I feel like if enough people out in the world talk about how much they want it, maybe it’ll happen.

"I love Carol Danvers so much and I love playing her and I love the way that she interacts with people and the way that she’s grown into herself. So, I’m excited to see where that goes. But there’s so many other new characters that I love, as well, that I’m excited to see and it’s so hard to imagine now where we’re at with these stories. Them existing without any one of those characters."

"It’s hard to pull that apart," she concluded.

As of right now, Captain Marvel doesn't have a place in Phase 4, but it's easy enough to imagine the character's sequel turning into a female-led team-up where the heroes assemble to tackle a Secret Invasion! In other words, it could be an unofficial Avengers movie, and that would ensure this sequel succeeds at the box office. Captain Marvel: A-Force, perhaps?

For now, we'll have to wait and see.

No Secret Invasion?

I think it's fair to say that we went into Captain Marvel expecting the stage to be set for a big screen adaptation of Secret Invasion. However, Talos and the rest of the Skrulls are portrayed in a sympathetic light and the movie does not wrap up with them infiltrating our planet. Does this mean Marvel Studios plans to portray them as the good guys moving forward?

Not necessarily.

Talos makes it clear that there are a lot of Skrulls scattered throughout the universe, and it's entirely feasible that at least one of them would like to make our planet home. If nothing else, at least this movie introduces us to the concept of the shapeshifters!

Captain Marvel Vs. The Kree

Captain Marvel ends on something of a cliffhanger as Carol Danvers blasts into space shortly after sending Yon-Rogg back to the Supreme Intelligence with a warning that she's coming to put an end to it once and for all.

There are a lot of open plot threads here, including what happens when Carol finally comes face to face with the being that spent years controlling her and robbing the hero of her past (we also never get to see its true form, and that feels like something which now needs to be addressed sooner rather than later).

Plus, it definitely feels like there's more story to tell between Carol and Yon-Rogg, so we're guessing a sequel will take place shortly after the events of this movie to fill in those gaps.

Ronan Hatches A Plan

Ronan doesn't have a huge part in this movie, but we do learn that he's one of the Accusers and see him fully embracing that role while reporting to Yon-Rogg. At this point, he's a long way off becoming the fanatic we met in Guardians of the Galaxy but he seems to be extremely interested in getting his hands on "the weapon."

That's not the Tesseract he's referring to either; it's Captain Marvel!

He clearly has his own plans for her, and it makes sense that this could be where his fascination with the Infinity Stones begins. A sequel could also explore the beginnings of the Kree's war with Xandar and what, if anything, that has to do with the Skrulls.

Talos' Son

This may mean a lot or very little, but it's interesting that the movie made a point of showing us Talos' young son watching his father kill the Kree. Given the changes which have been made to the Skrull general, his son (who would be an adult by now) could easily end up with a name comic book fans will recognise.

Seeing Talos' darker side could have set the stage for the child to become someone who is every bit as merciless as his father appeared to be, and he may be the one who leads the invasion of Earth.

Monica Rambeau

Carol's relationship with the young Monica Rambeau is a lot of fun and very touching. By the time she returns to Earth, Monica will be an adult and more than ready to become a superhero in her own right.

How that will happen remains to be seen (especially as fans are more anxious to see Kamala Khan/
Ms. Marvel) but the foundations have been laid and it will be exciting to find out what comes next.

Avengers: Endgame

As expected, Captain Marvel's first post-credits scene sets up the events of Avengers: Endgame, and there's a lot of evidence to suggest that Carol Danvers will join the ranks of Earth's Mightiest Heroes fairly early on in the superhero ensemble.

For starters, Captain America still has his beard while the team is inspecting Fury's pager, while the trailers have shown him cleanly shaven. Once the pager goes off, Black Widow turns around to see Carol standing there and she's anxious to know where her old friend is, so clearly doesn't realise what's happened to the universe after the snap.

Once the heroes figure out who she is and Carol learns to trust them, Captain Marvel will quickly join their ranks to help take down the Mad Titan once and for all.

Where's Goose?

In the movie's second post-credits scene, Goose (a Flerken) coughs up the Tesseract in Nick Fury's office and that's obviously how he winds up using it to power the weapons we saw in The Avengers.

The question is, what became of Goose after this? Did he escape and do his own thing or die a few years later
like a normal cat would? For that matter, is he still hanging out with Fury in secret?!

Captain Marvel's Powers

We learn during the course of this movie that Carol Danvers' powers come from a combination of the Tesseract and a transfusion she received from Yon-Rogg. However, it's hard not to wonder if Captain Marvel will be anywhere near as powerful as she thinks against Thanos, especially as he has the power of that particular Infinity Stone on his Gauntlet!

If that stone is destroyed, does that mean Carol loses her powers or will she use it to boost them?

It's hard to say for sure, but her connection to the Stones can't be a coincidence and you have to believe that this will come into play in Avengers: Endgame in a relatively meaningful way.

If for no other reason than the character actions between these characters would probably be their most interesting. Marvel movies tend to try and put character near the top of the priority list, but the dynamic events that could lead to this movie happening narratively would be a goldmine.

I know Feige has his plans, but we gotta get this one for the culture

I think it will happen in some form. Not in the way I assume they're pitching it with every single woman teaming up.

I could see a Disney+ show that's like three or four 1 hour long episodes where maybe Wasp works with She-Hulk on a case. Something like that. Maybe that segues into a film.

It can work if they set this movie in an alternate reality. Won't happen so no

@GodHercules20 - why does it have to be in an alternate reality?
GodHercules20
GodHercules20 - 10/9/2019, 11:27 AM
@Spidey91 - Cos they have to explain why it's about female heroes and why male heroes aren't available
Spidey91
Spidey91 - 10/9/2019, 11:34 AM
@GodHercules20 - Thor is semi-retired, Cap is old, Tony is dead, Spidey is a street level hero, Bucky and Falcon are mixed up in their spy stuff, Clint is passing the mantle, Strange is dealing with the Multiverse, Black Panther is doing king stuff, and Ant-Man is, I dunno, sick from eating too much ice cream or whatever. all you have to do is take Quill, Drax, Groot and Rocket out of the picture and bam!, all-femalke team because reasons.
come on dude, the MCU has dealt with much weirder sh*t than "but why all them femoids thou?"

@GodHercules20 - stag party?

@Spidey91 - You've explained everything except why the team is exclusively female. A Force was cancelled because of it. No doubt it'll make money but yeah its still sexist.
Spidey91
Spidey91 - 10/9/2019, 1:51 PM
@Kevwebsz - the team is all-female because the male heroes are either far away, retired, dead or busy with their own stuff. there, it took 10 seconds to think of that.
IKidYouNotMan

If they can get She Hulk in and do a proper A-Force movie then I’m all for it but the characters have to make sense, they can’t just go throwing every female MCU character into this thing.
Spidey91
Spidey91 - 10/9/2019, 11:04 AM
@IKidYouNotMan - "the characters have to make sense"
in the first Avenger we had a displaced 40's super soldier, a narcissist billionaire in a robot suit, an archer with gimmick arrows, a flat-out spy, a rage monster and a literal norse God, and they all lived aboard a flying invisible aircraft carrier for a little while.
these characters together shouldn't make sense, yet they found a way, like 5 other times.
so this sounds like an excuse, to be completely honest.
Spidey91
Spidey91 - 10/9/2019, 11:11 AM
@TyrantBossMedia - even so, it's not like pitching this idea is hard or anything. sounds like people are already giving up or refusing to that idea before thinking of a way to make it work. which doesn't really happen when it comes to the standard hero teams but hey, maybe that's just me.
Spidey91
Spidey91 - 10/9/2019, 11:00 AM
let the triggering begin.

In my mind it’s not a question of if but when. Do you do it now or do you wait a couple of years when you have introduced Jean Grey, Rogue, Storm and the Invisible Woman? I mean you already have enough now (and presumably more with Spectrum coming.) But that is a huge quartet of awesome on it’s way. Although I guess there is no reason you only have to do one.
