The Scarlet Speedster is about to have his hands full as his infamous Rogues Gallery led by Captain Cold are set to make their DCnU debut in the pages of The Flash #7

Captain Cold has been glimpsed and teased in the pages of THE FLASH thus far, but in issue 7 he’ll be back with a vengeance – and we all know that revenge is a dish best served cold.

He’ll be cooling off in a cell in Iron Heights Prison for now, but in the meantime you can feast your ice – er, eyes – on our first look at his redesign for DC COMICS-THE NEW 52.




So gone is the classic parka/ice gun combo for something a bit cooler..no pun intended. Nice to see the visor intact though. Captain Cold has always looked and sounded kinda ridiculous but as any Flash fan knows he is much more dangerous than he looks and quite an interesting villain. No indication of which villains with be joining him in the Rogues Gallery but if it is the classic team (as is mentioned above) it will more than likely include Captain Boomerang, Mirror Master and The Trickster among others.

Yeah the guns were silly, but they did kinda define that character. Anyway, now he shoots ice from his arms or something. No biggie

MartianSupermanhunter22 Gay? Not that I'd call them that way ('ridiculous' is more like it), but I get the point. And that's why actually; even with those gay guns Captain Cold has proved himself to be a dangerous villain. My personal opinion, anyway.

But really, ice power is kind of lame as well. What, will he be caught in an accident that gave him such power, or will it be any other cliche origin? Additionally, the guns have always been Cold's trademark for me, and they're not necessarily broken concepts...and you don't need to fix what's not broken.

Im glad hes got Ice poweers now, the gun was just corney, and yea he is a pretty cool villain, as the leader of the rogues, hes evil and malicous but hes got his own twisted moral code, Im happy theyre bringing him in.

And I think they already showed the Trickster in the last issue, that kid sitting on that tank with the weird blonde hair and striped pants, just like the Trickster wore, pretty sure that was him.

He might still use technology in order to use ice powers. Think it would be better to see the character in the comics and not just an image before deciding if the re design is good or not.

@Jolt17 Sorry for using the wrong word bro. Cause i litterally meant his ice guns prefere the same sex. I understand the trademark and all, but you can still change it a little. Turning him into captain heat would be pushing it, but getting rid of those LAME ass guns go for it. And it wasnt really the guns that made him the dangerous villian he is.

NICE!!! Rem,inds me of the change to Mr. Freeze in "The Batman," and though I was initially against that version he grew on me. I like his look though.

the whole point of the rogues was that they were all blue collar criminals. Inventors and people who inherited these fantastic devices. They didn't need meta-powers. They stuck together and did what they needed to to survive...it's what made them so badass...i feel like a lot of that essence is gone now.

lol, The Flash has the worst assembly of comic villains in the history of comics. Instead of simply getting rid of the entire lot, DC spend decade after decade of trying to make them "hip" and "cool" and wonder why with names like Captain Cold, Weather Wizard and Captain Boomeran, these stupid characters remain just as corny as they always have been.

..here's a tip, KILL THEM ALL OFF INSTEAD OF YOUR HEROES AND SIDEKICKS AND MAKE UP DECENT NEW VILLAINS!

It has gotten better, its interesting how they added that now his mind also works at super speed, very cool, although the book is not perfect and still could improve its one of the better books out of the DCnU imo.

Although I do like the new Captain cold without the guns u do make a good point, that is who the rogues truly were, although this is a reboot, so things are a changing.

Amen brother, Im still pisssed that they totally didregarded Wally wothout any acknowledgment whatsoever, I mean he was only around for 25 years and am sure has accumulated tons of fans but screw that, assholes.

Even if Barry is front and center they can still have Wally around, I mean Hal is the main GL, but Kyle still managed to get his own book, hell Guy and John Stewart even have their own title. geez.

I must admit I'm a fan of the rouges its good to see that even villains can rely on each other. normally villan teams start winning then fall out with each other so the hero beats them through that.

I totally agree they could give Wally his own comic just like new gaurdians or green lantern corp. it could include his daughter who beacame the new impulse during the flash rebirth

I ran a comic shop for 7 years and drew professionally for 10 years so loose the idea that I'm some newbie born in the last 20 years, Been reading comics since the 70's! The names, props and costumes of these characters were stupid then and they remain stupid now, thus all credibility of their stories never achieve lift off to the levels of true classic comic literature like James Robinson's Golden Age or his run on Starman or Wagner and Seagle's Sandman Mystery Theatre. If they ever try making a movie of the Flash with villains like that it will do even worse than Green Lantern and only the comic fanboys will wonder why it flopped because they never see past the stupidity in what they read!

@ceejay their goofy looks and names have never mattered. The characters themselves are aware of their gimmicky images. Cold even said so himself. In fact, it's even proved to be a strength (who wouldn't want to be underestimated by everyone they come in contact with in a battle). What makes (well made, now, I guess) them so awesome is that they are able to overcome of all these obstacles (no powers, clashing ideals, facing a man who can move at light speed), and put up a hell of a fight. To me, the matter of them working in a movie is irrelevant (although i think mirror master as a villain could be absolutely awesome). It's about how they work in the comic book. There are TONS of long-time readers out there who regard Flash as having one of the best rogue galleries in comics.

This Captain Cold looks like a redneck with that silly sleeveless hoodie. All he's missing are a couple of tattoos on his arm (maybe his name in old english letters and some barbed wire) and a cigarette.

@groundrunner15 - No offence but, the goofy names and recurring silly capers and costumes have convinced YOU that it doesn't matter. The average sensible Joe will pass on this type of comic really only suitable for landfill! We're ten years into a new millennium and DC still wants to regurgitate the same stupid comic characters for the same bunch of kids who will never grow up no matter what, fanboys just like things to stay the same as they are forever! When they did the series 'Underworld Unleashed' they had a golden opportunity to rid themselves of these type of idiot villains for good and make decent new ones for the modern era. Naturally they blew it!

@steverogersson that's spot on. and it's very unfortunate because it seems they're going to be doing this to all of the rogues (they've already hinted at pied piper). However, manapul and brian b have worked to make an extremely fun comic so I'll certainly be reading to see how it turns out, even if Wally isn't a part of it. We don't need to get started on THAT crime....

Ceejay, Your opinion stands as just that, YOUR opinion. Many have valued the quality writing that has been used to handle all of Flashes villains.

The Beauty of Flash having this infinite energy and Cap Cold being able to bring him down to Absolute 0 Energey is brilliant....

A good flash movie would be one part Science Fiction and Space Time Conundrum, One Part Crime/Detective Science Story, & 2 Parts Superhero Movie....
