Lovely artwork.

I loved it when Clayface showed up in the second Arkham Asylum game. Did not see that coming.

Clay face would be an awesome villain if directors can hop off that realistic approach bullshit.

I like Clayface alot, but they seriously need to move beyond the animated series design. It's been 20 years, I'd like to see something different. That said Maleev is a truly gifted artist. One of the best in the industry.

That's actually a very, very cool cover, but I can never seem to take Clayface seriously because of his goofy movie monster appearance.

Except the version on The Batman. That whole story arc was great, and the design wasn't bad either.

Clayface has always been a meh villain. I like the way this looks so far. But, as far as him in a film. It would just end up cartoony. If people thought, The Lizard was cartoony, Clayface would get worse backlash.

He's an okay-ish villain.
But to feature him in a movie? That'd be the stupidest move ever. They "could" make him some sort of Mystique-type covert merc/agent, which would be cool, but we've already seen that before. This big hulking clay monster crap is just stupid as shit.

Every time someone says Clayface would be silly or stupid on film, I feel like I've just encountered one more person who hasn't seen Carpenter's The Thing. Because as a baseline approach to jump off of, I can't think of too many better ones.

I like how he looks in this art. He looks like Jabba the Hutt after a stint on "The Biggest Loser".

They should use his Arkham City look that was the best Clayface since The Batman. But still look like a decent story after all not every story needs to be a blockbuster advent.

I love the art! Maleev is perfect for Batman.
But Im confused about the story . . .
I mean . . . it's a story arc. It started in issue 22 and it will end in 25. Where's the mega-crossover event? Where's the special cosmic incident logo? What's the reading order . . ?I've been trained to pick up the crossover issues . . . I'm so confused.

So which Clayface is it? Because they talk about him as if he were anactor, so it could be the first Clayface, from the Golden Age Basil Karlo, but he has the condition of all the other Clayfaces. He does look like the Batman - TAS Clayface, though, which was Matt Hagan, with a bit of Basil Karlo mixed in.

@ DukeAcureds

Prior to the New 52 reboot, Basil Karlo, Preson Payne (Clayface III) and Sondra Fuller (Clayface IV/Lady Clay) attempted to resurrect Matt Hagen (Clayface II) in "The Mudpack". While it didn't work, Karlo got enough genetic material from Hagen's corpse, along with blood from Payne and Fuller to give himself their collected powers, becoming pretty much the ultimate Clayface.

I can only assume either some version of The Mudpack storyline took place in the unseen history of the DCnU Batman or Karlo acquired his powers in a way reminiscent to Hagen acquiring in the original continuity. Hopefully this story covers those details.
