COMICS: DC Unveils "Absolute Final Crisis", The Definitive Collection Of The 2008 Epic!

In July, DC Comics will publish ABSOLUTE FINAL CRISIS – collecting 2008's epic story about the triumph of evil in the DC Universe. The over-sized hardcover will collect ABSOLUTE FINAL CRISIS collects FINAL CRISIS #1-7, FINAL CRISIS: SUBMIT #1, FINAL CRISIS: SUPERMAN BEYOND #1-2 and the FINAL CRISIS SKETCHBOOK, all written by Grant Morrison.

And an added bonus? ABSOLUTE FINAL CRISIS comes with its own pair of 3-D glasses, for use with pages featured in FINAL CRISIS: SUPERMAN BEYOND.

So, will you be buying this collection? It really does appear to be THE definitive collection of the comic book series, but it's also somewhat surprising that DC would release what is considered by some to be an extremely confusing and convoluted story in the midst of the reader friendly "New 52" era. Guess it's proof that they're still looking out for the long term fans, eh?

I reread it after reading an interesting quote from Grant Morrison. He said that he wanted to write Final Crisis not as a comic, but in a lyrical fashion. He wanted to make the first comic book rock opera, something symphionic and musical.

Was the end-all-be-all DC event the right time to try this out? Probably not. Nonetheless, reading it knowing that gives one a different perspective on the book.

Every Crisis storyline in DC is an acid trip on pages. Confusing as hell, especially the outcome of them. SMH.

i thought dc said none of the "crisis" stories never happened but they still see the need to sell the book.

Final Crisis was no where near as enjoyable as the previous two. Plus as someone who collected Countdown I have to say the run up to Final Crisis was ill thought out at best.

However, Final Crisis was very clever, and I think it's probably a grower.

@grayfox117 so, they should not release an absolute edition of the Crisis cause, from now on, there will be no more Crisis events? I fail to see the logic in that

RE: Absolute Crisis collecting all the series into one hardcover.

I was going to say how they could fit CoIE, IC, Infinite Crisis, and FC into one book but there is that FF #1-100 volume out there so I guess it would be doable. I'd buy it.

RE: Final Crisis itself.

I liked it, and a lot better than Identity Crisis and Infinite Crisis for sure. I just wish JG JOnes could've made it all the way to seven and not have Doug Manke fill-in (not that I don't like Doug, I just want the artist that started it to finish it). That, and I wish they would've let Grant tell the story in the length it was originally meant to be told in. Wasn't it shrunk down to seven issues?

I already have the normal-sized hardcover, I loved this event but I prefer the version that is lighter and doesn't cost its weight in gold.
But most of all: why the Hell they don't continue the Sandman Mystery Theatre paperback reprints?

I really LOVED that "Superman Beyond" Grant Morrison story. I found it really fascinating.

I really didn´t read all the rest of this Crisis, so i can´t really tell if it was that bad.

The TPB of Final Crisis was given to me as a christmas gift. And i still couldn't enjoy it. IMHO, the only good part about it was seeing Black Lightning in action. But everything around him sucked ass. DC needs more Black Lightning!
