COMICS: Now Tony Daniel Leaves ACTION COMICS; Working On Another "Massive Project" At DC

"Professional differences" led to the departure of writer Andy Diggle from his much publicised upcoming run on Action Comics, and now artist (and fill-in writer) Tony S. Daniel has confirmed he won't remain on the series past issue #21. Read on for details!

Unlike the recent professional and creative differences which led to Andy Diggle and Josh Fialkov walking away from DC Comics, Tony S. Daniel will remain at the publisher but NOT on Action Comics. As you can see from the following post on his Facebook page, he has confirmed that while he will indeed take over scripting duties to finish of the arc, he will NOT remain on the series after that time. He claims this was always the plan, this goes against a lot of reports we heard in the build-up to the highly publicised run. However, it's interesting to wonder what exactly the "massive project" he will be working on for DC is. Check out his comments below and be sure to sound off with your thoughts on them in the usual place! Will you still buy the series?

Yes, many have heard, Andy Diggle left Action Comics after the first issue. I can only say I feel bad he made that decision. I think it was the wrong one, but that was his choice to make. For the remainder of the arc I'll be working off his plots to finish out this first arc. So essentially, I become 'scripter' in the credits w/ Andy as 'plotter.' As for myself, I end my short run after I complete this first arc, which ends with issue 21. This was preplanned since last fall as there is another project I'll be taking on, and assisting with, a massive project with DC. I still think people will like this arc and I'm staying as true as I can be to Andy's plans for this story. In the end I hope he'll find it somewhat recognizable as something he took part in.

Not a good week for DC. Maybe next week they can reboot all the characters and start over?

I'm not really a big Tony Daniel fan. Sometimes it looks good but often it just looks rushed. I'll probably not buy Action no matter who comes on. Trying to cut my pull list, but if Unchained is a 4.99 book then I might get Action instead.

Meh! His writing is mediocre so I wasn't looking forward to him doing that

Really like his art tho, pretty cool stuff so as long as he sticks with art in this next project I'm fine

Oh man DC needs to get their shit together and stop pissing off their writers. While I am not a fan of Diggle, Morrison or Daniel as writers its pretty telling when they cant find a good writer for Action Comics, the freakin crux of DC comics.

Actually, he's an average artist and a bad writer - as showed in Battle For The Cow arc!!!

Good bye, my friend!

DC should hire Olivier Coipel and Brian Michael Bendis from Marvel ad put them to make a new Superman title!

Losing my faith here. The little preview in the back of this months comics was fantastic, it honestly looked like it was drawn 10 years in the future. Now Daniel is leaving? WTF IS GOING ON THERE?!

Really hoping Superman gets back on track...

The last Superman story I can really remember really liking is "Grounded" and that was in 2011. And even that sort of fell apart at the end, so it's been like 2 years. But I have hope...

Superman Unchained is coming!
