DC Comics readers tend to remember little things like the discovery of a
Joker that's been kept prisoner in the deep, dark depths of the Batcave for quite a while - especially when there's two other
Clown Princes of Crime running around Gotham. However, that mystery remained untouched for a number of years as
DC Rebirth soldiered on and
Doomsday Clock eventually concluded after several lengthy delays.
Well, with the latter concluded, it seems Geoff Johns now has the time (did he ever turn in that Green Lantern Corps screenplay?) to tackle the mystery of
Batman: Three Jokers, as DC has announced a June 17 release date for the first installment of a three-issue miniseries that sees Jason Fabok on art duty.
A DC press release describes the story as follows:
After years of anticipation, the epic story is finally here: find out why there are three Jokers, and what that means for the decades-long battle between the Dark Knight and the Clown Prince of Crime. In this powerful, emotional story Batman, Batgirl and Red Hood—all past victims of the Joker—work together to solve a mystery unlike anything they’ve ever faced before!
Another interesting question is if the miniseries will somehow factor into
DC's plans for their 5G reboot which may or may not have been downsized in the wake of
Dan DiDio's departure.
