COMICS: Tim Drake's Time as Robin Still Intact

Scott Lobdell has provided clarification on Tim Drake's history as Robin in the DCnU. Was he ever Batman's sidekick? Find out after the jump!

A day ago, comic book fans were none too happy to hear that Tim Drake's origin would be drastically changed and that he never used the title "Robin". Scott Lobdell, the writer for Teen Titans, has clarified via Twitter that his previous statement in San Diego Comic Con regarding Tim Drake's history as Robin (or lack of) are false!

So now that it is clear that Tim Drake was Batman's sidekick for a while, it will be interesting to see how Tim's origin is handled in the upcoming Teen Titans #0. The phrase "of several years" also creates a puzzling dilemma in terms of how Batman could have trained so many sidekicks in such little time. If Batman has only been active for 5 years, and Tim Drake was Robin for "several years", then how much time does that leave for Dick or Jason?

So what do you think, readers? Is keeping Tim Drake's history as Robin a good idea or does it further discombobulate the jigsaw puzzle that is the DCnU timeline? Sound off in the comments below!

Wow, now that I look at it, this is unnecessarily wordy... I'm more of a reader than a writer so this really isn't my forte. Next time I'll just pass the news on to more able hands.

Or Dick for 2 years, Jason for a short time like 3months, Tim for 2 and finally Damien 7months and counting.

The problem with the DCNU is that they screwed with the wrong characters and kept the wrong stuff intact.

Surely they could have given Hawkman a more concise backstory? Is there even a need to change Drake's story by 10%? Lobdell has done some ridiculous stuff with this character so far - he blows up Lex towers, has a photo of him and Batman sitting on his desk, hides his identity from team mates but shows his face to NOwhere agents who are able to track him but not connect the dots to who he is. Surely a ward of Bruce Wayne would be identifiable by such an organisation

Anyways hen it comes to Batman I just pretend the original time span exists, you cant compress Year One, Killing joke, KnightFall, Hush, The Long Halloween, R.I.P etc into 5 years - Let's be sober.

Why don't they just make it to where Dick was just trained by Bruce to be Nightwing at an older age? But then Jason makes no sense and...god all of it doesn't make any sense. I hate that I love the New 52.

Remember Crisis on Infinite Earths, and then History of the DC Universe, and then the "retelling" of the origins (Man of Steel, Year One, etc)? Yeah...That made sense.

This...This does not.

Destroy it and rebuild.

I just pretend that the new 52 never happened with Batman. it's a lot easier to understand that way.

Many warrior cultures have trained young boys the way of the hunt and warfare. Why is batman training kids to take up his mantle so controversial? I understand child endangerment or manipulating impressionable minds but why is it automatically gay and pedophilia? I am not a prude I have been known to make the same joke occasionally. I think the way he found Richard Grayson was poetic and fitting for him to start his lineage. Each Robin has his own strengths and weaknesses but they all carry on batmans dream of protecting the innocent from the vile.

He should learn from batman but never become robin bcuz batman didn't want another robin after the death of Jason.

I thought they said Batman's history wasn't going to change? That he has been active longer than anyone else. Which means he had more than enough time to train all the Robin's
