AVENGERS INC. Comic Book Series Will See The Wasp Lead A Team Dedicated To Solving Mysteries And Murders

Marvel Comics will put a fresh new spin on Earth's Mightiest Heroes this September with a new Avengers Inc. series that puts Janet Van Dyne front and centre as she sets out to solve a classic murder mystery.

60 years ago, Janet Van Dyne stood alongside Earth's Mightiest Heroes as they assembled for the very first time and named them The Avengers. Now, during the team's milestone anniversary year, The Wasp will lead them into all-new territory with a brand-new title called Avengers Inc.

Debuting in September, the series comes our way from writer Al Ewing and artist Leonard Kirk.

Together, this A-List creative team will introduce readers to a whole new style of Avenging. It kicks off with a deadly conspiracy rooted in the ghosts of the Avengers’ past that only founding Avenger Wasp can solve. But she won’t be alone as she finds a new partner in Victor Shade! This former alias of Vision mysteriously resurfaces just as Janet discovers a score of supervillain murders. Will he guide Wasp to the truth or is his familiar guise hiding the very clues Janet needs to crack the case?

It's said that we can expect guest stars galore as this pulse-pounding series moves forward, while it will also include direct connections to the other current ongoing series, such as Jed MacKay and C.F. Villa's Avengers.

Her name is Janet Van Dyne. She’s a hero. She’s a celebrity. She’s hunting a killer. His name is Victor Shade. He’s a villain. He’s an enigma. He just got killed. And together, they’re out to solve every mystery in the Marvel Universe...starting with their own.

"Avengers Inc. takes the beating, buzzing heart of the original Avengers, teams her up with an undead mystery man with an identity so secret even he doesn't know it, and sends them both out to solve the most amazing, fantastic and uncanny whodunnits the Marvel Universe has to offer!" Ewing explained. "It's kind of a classic 'will-they-won't-they' crime-solving partnership - or it would be if the 'will-they' in question was 'save the world from...' well, that'd be telling."

Kirk adds, "I am unsure what can be said of Avengers Inc. without spoiling anything for the readers. I can say this is a fun and intriguing take on some familiar characters that leans more into detective skills over super strength, wit rather than eye beams and cunning instead of small, genetically mutated, furry creatures."

"Al is doing a bang up job with this and I am having a load of fun. I hope the audience does too."

You can check out Daniel Acuña's cover for Avengers Inc. #1 below before the first issue goes on sale on September 13. We'll hopefully have more to share with you about this one in the coming weeks.

I hope no one is surprised when Mickey the Rat changes her name from Wasp to Evil Honky Karen in the MCU.

The cover isn’t showing up for me.

Wasp and the Vision would be a cool partnership, but I gather this isn’t that… or is it? What’s the current status of the Vision anyway? They seem to kill him or his daughter off so regularly…

Will they at least give Janet a colorful-van as she drives around solving mysteries??? 🫤 Personally, not a fan of stripping down everything that makes a comicbook superhero interesting in the first place and putting them into more mundane, street-level situations but, if you MUST do something like this; it's understandable that you would choose a B-Lister like Janet.

Marvel: The House Of No New Ideas, couldn't think up a new name for this comic. By issue 5 it will be selling about 10K copies, cancelled in less than a year.

So superheroes in a comic where they don't do super heroing - I always liked the Wasp but this doesn't feel like a fit for me
