Marvel will never reboot the 616. They just expand it to other universes and dimension etc.

Im sorry call me corny or whatever but I literally LOLed when she turned around and said “These are not the droids you’re looking for”. I wouldn’t mind Skye becoming Ms Marvel but I don’t like it when they change a characters back story or inexplicable reasons. I hope they keep the characters from AOS as original characters and just build unique stories for them. I can let the Deathlok thing go cause I don’t think we would see him any other way. BTW I like AOS

i guess i really don't see the big issue with starting over at number 1. yea it's a gimmick to sell comics, made by a company who wants to sell comics. why is it really that surprising that visual gimmicks to attract new readers are being employed?
it's less daunting to a new reader to see a issue #1 instead of #201. comics with a high issue number may put newbies off. there's sooo much back story to pick up on. where's the natural jump on point? these reboots seem to happen when the story takes a turn or a new creative team comes on board, which kind of breaks books up into multiple stories instead of a long on going series.
yes, there less organization in the long run on the chronology of the stories in the future without trying to figure out which volume of captain marvel you're reading. also, i think it's very dismissive to your loyal readers calling it a reboot or revamp when it's simply a new storyline or new creative team. call it what it is. the original number is cool to see, but honestly, as long as the story is solid and the art is gorgeous, i'm cool with marvel, dc, or any other publisher trying something like this bring in new readers.

i understand what you mean. I also remember the 90s comic collector's bubble. other differences between now and then are that those books in the 90s were using the gimmicks to sell so many copies of the same issue. this new gimmick would actually help sell new issues since there are more "brand new first issues" popping up ever 6 or 7 months from the same series. love them or hate them, variant covers seem like they are here to stay. also, the 90s had a huge influx of artists writing books who couldn't write. the artists were the driving force behind many of the books, so publishers thought "well if readers are buying the books because of the artists, just let the artists write the books". there are some amazing stories being published today, and i feel like the quality of today's comic outshine a good chunk of the 90s books.
the collectors rush of the 90s was doomed to fail from the get go. the reason old comics are valuable are due to the fact that they aren't all over the place. are todays comics getting caught with enormous print runs?

i agree with the confusion that can and will be caused by the resets, reboots, rewhatevers of the new first issues for retailers. i brought that up for a second in my first comment. i feel like there is a better way at handling this, but i also see this being beneficially to new readers. i don't see it as being as detrimental as the 90s collector's crash.

it sounds like the biggest contributors to the past and future crash are the collectors. gimmicks to sell books aren't the problem in both scenarios (90s and current comics), but the collectors buying up multiple copies of the same issue which is viewed by the publisher as a successful book and requires another print run is more of the problem.
