Al Ewing's Immortal Hulk run is set to conclude later this year, but in November, Marvel Comics is relaunching the title as Hulk. That will bring together the creative team of acclaimed writer Donny Cates, known for his revolutionary work on Venom and Thor, and superstar artist Ryan Ottley of Amazing Spider-Man and Invincible.
This bold new era begins when Bruce Banner discovers a radical way to control the monster within. Could this mark the final end of the green goliath? Or will the extreme solution create something new...with massive consequences? Marvel Comics says we should prepare to dive deep into the very core of Hulk’s rage in this thrilling epic that will explore this iconic character’s incredible - and destructive - legacy in a way no one has dared to before.
"Marvel just gave me the keys to the strongest one there is," Cates says. "Haha... oh boy. You guys are just not ready for this. You’re about to find out what happens when Ryan Ottley and I get angry...and guess what? Well...pretty sure you’re gonna like us a lot when we’re angry."
This sounds really intriguing, and it's certainly something different for Marvel Comics to delve into how and why The Hulk is controlled by his rage. It also sounds like a new status quo could be on the way for the Jade Giant, perhaps bringing him in line with what we've seen in the MCU.
It's been confirmed that we'll get our first glimpse at what's in store for Hulk in Free Comic Book Day 2021: Avengers/Hulk on August 14. For now, check out the cover and some interior artwork below:
