I don't like: Joe Quesada

A small rant about one of the most annoying employee of Marvel comics

Editorial Opinion

I don't like Joe Quesada. There are a few reasons for this, the foremost being that as editor in chief he has made decisions ever. I am not just talking about "one more day" but we'll get to that later.

The main decision he has made that pissed most people off is that he banned smoking in marvel stories. Normally I would of been okay with this because the reason was that his father died of lung cancer but his explaination was that the younger readers might be influenced by smoking. What?! When you have characters that can hack people apart with claws you expect them to be influenced by smoking. I'm sure younger readers know that they can't do things like that in real life and can make there own decisions.

The dude is the most egotistical person I've ever seen. I watched someone at comic con ask him why marvel needed to revert Spider-man back to the same style as older stories and he started talking about sales and how it is the essence of Peter Parker. This is rubbish because when JMS started on the book giving Peter a little happiness sales trippled.

The biggest reason people hate him is probably one more day. If you ever want to read this please don't. It is complete bullshit. The most contrived peace of garbage ever written. Joe Quesada has complained about the marriage since day one but to have spidey make a deal with Mephisto because a divorce could effect younger readers is too stupid for words. Some people say that JMS wrote this not Quesada but JMS said that his work had been twisted so much that he wanted his name off it.

Thanks for reading. It will be interesting to see what Axel Alonso does in the infamous chair. Whether you agree or disagree comments are always welcome.

P.S. Sorry but I have been wanting to do this rant for years so please don't moan because it's a little late

"What?! When you have characters that can hack people apart with claws you expect them to be influenced by smoking. I'm sure younger readers know that they can't do things like that in real life and can make there own decisions."

Its a little easier for kids to be influenced by, and begin smoking then it is for them to go slaughter someone. There's a fine line between smoking a cigarette and murder, lol. If you can't see that distinction, then i don't know what to tell you.

also, people bashing Joe Quesada is a little crazy. You're talking about a guy, who in his entire carrer and EIC, made a couple decisions you didn't agree with. Yes, One More Day was terrible, and he should have been targeted for that mistake...like he was.

the smoking thing, does that really bother anyone that much? i honestly haven't even noticed it in years.

The thing is, comic fans can sit here and play armchair EIC all the want, but I guarantee if ANY comic fan was placed in that position, they would have to make decisions that not everyone will like. It comes with the job. Let me ask you something, name me one EIC from the past that you absolutely loved.

Probably none, because i can't think of any that fans have EVER loved.

Nothing wrong with rants @BigK1337... why? Because our money is what drives Joe to make even more business moves... Just like when the gas prices increased, everybody with a job were making/do what? Ranting!

Now, I dont know if Joe made the move to replace Ed for Mark... but I'm pretty pissed about that

he also stated that he wanted to bring back the huge rivalry with DC, but used to, it was a friendly competition, thats why dont see anymore amalgam, or JLA/Avengers comics

I love the guy. He's replied to many emails of mine, in a very friendly manner. He even sent me a letter in the mail, when I sent him an invitation to my high school graduation. The letter was typed by him, and even had his signature in pen. He's a bloody great guy. I don't care what anyone says.

Oh, and for those of you who are wondering why I sent him an invitation: it's because I wanted to see what he'd send to me. It's the same reason that I invited Obama.

@Bigshow: No. However: he took the time to type up the letter. I didn't expect him to hop a flight to Memphis.

Dude, that's good enough! That's truly awesome!

I just wanted him to take time to respect the fans ((continuity)) for what we are paying for... like, he could find the time to extend a deal with Ed, to come back, but he typed you a letter ((no offense))? He must be really busy!

About the smoking; That is hardly any reason to diss on a guy. Smoking is singlehandedly the most disgusting habit in the known universe, haha...it's true. Anyways, I do get the point there. somewhat. Joe Q. is really guilty of plopping his leftist politics into the Marvel universe. Anti-smoking is just one example. Another would be the recent green lighting of a bi-racial Spidey, a slobbering love affair with the communist Barack Obama, the leftist worldview of ed Brubakers Captain America, and so on. This should be expected as spineless academics and their fratboy proteges have been perpetrating leftist dogma through the media for decades. That will not change till we as Americans decide to shove the leftist communist douche bags so far up an ass...any ass will do quite frankly, so long as it is biologically big enough to hold idiots like Joe Q...that if they dont already talk with French lisps they will then.
Besides the political douchery, Joe Q stinks for being a colossal failure as EIC. How so? Let's see. Marvel should be raking in sales of hundreds of thousands of best selling comics per month given the billions upon billions of dollars from films. Instead the company sputters along like it does and why? One possible problem can be laid ENTIRELY at Joe Qs cloven hooves and that is the mentality that monthly comics do not matter, meeting deadlines do not matter, and that being cool and hip at Comic con is all that really counts. As a result, fans have abandoned in droves a now unreliable form of entertainment. adding insult is that the late books Marvel puts out are clearly overpriced by at least a full dollar and it is easy to see why readers have gotten over Marvel Comics.
That is why Joe Quesada sucks.
