Amazing Spider-Man editor Stephen Wacker has hinted that a new Spider-Man will replace Peter Parker.

Wacker suggested that Marvel might be considering a shake-up of the franchise during an interview with Comic Book Resources.

Speaking about the upcoming 'Origin of the Species' storyline, the editor said: "Beyond that, we've already started talking about the fact that it might be time for a new, or at least better, Spider-Man. I feel like we've done as much as we can do in terms of Peter Parker's time as Spider-Man."

Later, he said: "In Christos Gage and Mario Alberti's Spider-Man/Fantastic Four miniseries, which begins July 8, we'll be looking at the relationships between those characters over the years, sort of like what we did with X-Men/Spider-Man.

"That will give readers a good sense of the relationship between that team and Spider-Man, which will play into some of the stuff we'd like to do over the next year as well, whenever we have our new Spider-Man..."

I thought Marvel had lost it when Brand New Day started. Now a new Spider-Man to replace Peter Parker? I am not liking the sound of this.
