When we asked you last year which team you would side with, The Avengers had no issues coming out on top. However, the conclusion of Avengers Vs. X-Men #6 saw Cyclops declare, "No More Avengers" as Earth's Mightiest Heroes once again interfered in the X-Men's/Phoenix Five's plans (basically making the world a better place). It now seems that halfway through the series, your allegiance has completely changed as it was the mutant team who came out on top in our poll posted here on CBM last week! Check out the results below and sound off with your thoughts in the usual place.

Hell no, Avengers all the way.

I might agree with most of the OTHER X-Men, but not the Phoenix Five. Even though that interaction between Scott and Prof. X from issue 6 was pretty badass.

Love the X-Men too, when they act like X-Men. This is clearly painting the X-Men as the bad guys, so impossible to vote in their favor. I am with Wolverine on this one, on the side not getting shoved down the path of the villian by bad writing, the Avengers.

I don't know how it's villainous to bring free food, energy, and clean water to the entire planet, or to relieve all governments of their war machines so they can't use them to kill each other anymore. Oh, that's right, because humans didn't come to this conclusion on their own... gimme a break. Cyke uses the Phoenix to effectively end all major problems the world faces, and somehow is the villain? If anyone is the "villain" here, regrettably, it's Cap.

@monkeyballs3 I don't know where you learned that. War (i.e. death by conflict on a mass scale) results in a tiny fraction of the world's total mortality rate. To blame peace for the death of the species is, in all honesty, non-sensical. And incidentally remarkably few species actually conduct war in any sort of recognizable fashion. Ants and bees/wasps being one of the few. If you wanted to blame anything for increased and unchecked population growth, you really should blame advances in medical care. Virus, disease and infection are by far more efficient killers of species(and incidentally the one nature created to stop rampant population growth).

War is not in our nature. The will to survive is. It is a scarcity of resources that leads to conflict. If resources were not scarce, there would be no conflict. Imagine a world in which conflic did not exist to hamper human progress. Where every child could reach their full potential.

And on the note of super powered indivdiuals in this context.... Battling villans and carrying on like the Avengers do is in fact a complete and utter waste of time. They have the abilities and resources to move planets and stop interstellar threats, and how do they use them? Punching people in the head? Truth be told they could still do that, AND still help the rest of the world.

You people who seem to have it in for the X-men in this conflict, (and for some reason have a bizzare love affair with wolverine) should really think about it. The avengers aren't trying to save the world, they are tring to maintain the status quo.

Oh and incidentally I can't really support anyone whose plan is to go and murder a teenage girl whose only crime is...you know...being born.

I was on the X-men side from the beginning.
ScarSpeedster
ScarSpeedster - 6/25/2012, 10:27 AM
@pathway Well i don't think it was Caps plan to kill her first of all. That said we're looking at the phoenix here. The first issue opens with it totally destroying a planet with humanoids on it. Summers had literally no reason to think it wouldn't do exactly the same thing to earth. He's just been driven insane by the loss of his kind and his love, so much so that he would gamble the entire planet. Just seems not worth it.

C ScarSpeedster You have a valid point. Cyclop's motivation was in all likelyhood one of faith. Psychologically speaking, it is not only possible but likely that in his mind there is an intrinsic connection between the Phoenix entity and that of Jean Grey. I don't know that he is necessarily insane, so much as devoted to his people. He lives in a world in which the vast majority of his species is hated and hunted. He also lives on a planet where being's of god-like power protect the those same people(i.e. the Avengers), and those same beings have done almost nothing to stop the genocidal murder of a marginalized population. And when they do act as in the beginning of the series it was to take and imprison the only hope (see what i did there ;)) of that species/population.

History is rife with examples where a leader or figure of hope has been "protected" by the powers-that-be. It has never really ended well.

Oh, and when I mentioned the plan to murder Hope, it was directed at those people who are obsessed with Wolverine. Sorry for the confusion(No offense too one of my fav characters...Cap, not Wolverine

that Phoenix five sorta looks lame, heck power rangers look cooler in comparison. Wolvie sure as hell doesn't spell right being an avenger for the rabid and barbaric characters that he wield. He will always be an X-people and an X-man to me never as an a part of Avenger. never been an Xmen fan while most have been drunk with all the x titles ruling the animations and films department while i have stayed loyal to the Avengers titles. it's been a long overdue and look at it now,it has gone on to make box office history that X franchise only hopes to gain by wishful thinking and daydreams.
Avengers all the way!

@XmutantX
good call about Mastermind. People seem to forget that through either Rachel Grey or Jean Grey, neither one of em has blown up the planet.

@pathway
damned good points about war/conflict/survivability, etc.
Before I read your post I was thinking pretty much the same things, so no need for me to add to it.

I voted Avengers

I think that the millions and millions of people who went to see the Avengers movie should have a vote in this. I think thats enough votes for a landslide lol. Just remember the famous words in Infinity Gauntlet; "Power tends to corrupt, but absolute power corrupts absolutely". Go Avengers!!
