SPIDER-MAN: REIGN 2 Preview Reveals One Of The Grossest Kingpin Moments In Marvel Comics History

A five-issue preview of Spider-Man: Reign 2 has been released by Marvel Comics, and it features a suitably f***ed up take on The Kingpin we're confident you won't soon forget. Check it out right here!

Marvel Comics has confirmed Spider-Man: Reign 2 will be released in 2024, with Kaare Andrews returning to write and illustrate the sequel to what's been dubbed "the most notorious" Spidey story ever told.

In this week's Amazing Spider-Man #31/#925, a preview of the series offers a glimpse at what's to come...and it's pretty darn horrifying.

During Spider-Man: Reign, we learned that New York City's fantastic Mayor Ward had imprisoned and starved The Kingpin, visiting the emaciated Wilson Fisk once every year to gloat. This sneak peek shows the villain crawling through the bubble of Ward's building before encountering his old foe.

With that, he proceeds to eat the Mayor alive and is later shown massively obese and bathed in blood, presumably as a means of satisfying his hunger. He's now Mayor but Spider-Man, who appears to have lost his mind, is intent on taking him down.

We see the bearded, elderly web-slinger wearing a tattered costume and talking to the spectre of his dead wife, Mary Jane. As you'll no doubt recall, she died after years of having sex with Peter resulted in his radioactive body fluids giving her cancer.

It's intriguing to think about where this series will take us, especially after the first one killed many of the wall-crawler's greatest foes. However, there are plenty of other classic baddies who could return alongside Kingpin!

It won't be a title for kids, but exploring this twisted Marvel Universe's future should be a lot of fun and suitably f***ed up.

Spider-Man: Reign 2 doesn't currently have a confirmed release date but is coming in 2024.

@marvel72 - It has a unique style. I always appreciate when something can look "different" and still appealing.

@Shivermetimbers - Totally huge fan of Barry Windsor-Smith, one of my all time favourites.

Along with John Byrne and George Perez.

IDK - I love that shot of Peter and the ghost of MJ. Someone def has vision! Although - I am not familiar with the story. If she is really a "ghost" or if she is in Peter's head. I would have to think ghost because why would he envision her in a dead state? Anyway, one offs like these where they take major characters into different places can really pay off I think.

Spider-Man doesn't need to be edgy and disturbing to be good. I mean maybe it could be good, but right now it just feels weird as hell. Cannibal Kingpin? Really?

@Urubrodi - its an elseworlds so its permission to go balls out with the stories. they really dont count until the sales go through the roof then they bring the character into the mainline somehow from the multiverse ala spider gwen and miles.

I'm interested, but same people saying "this looks good!" are the same people who cry when the MCU makes the slightest change to canon.

This is what people are talking about when they say the comics don't stay true to any characters and they change and evolve all the time, or have one offs, so the movies should be able to also.

and before you cry "this is just a one off, it's not canon and doesn't matter" so was Joker having a spell put him to make him pregnant, and ya'll shat your pants when that happened.

@SATW42 - because that is what fans do now. bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch. ill get behind them on valid points but bitching just to bitch for the sake of bitching which is what they are doing about this is dumb. its an elseworlds. they just want to cash in on new concepts. miles, spider gwen are cash cows to them now. dc cashed in on kingdom come, superman red son etc

The annoying thing about Reign - when you take out the "radioactive fluids" thing, it was actually a pretty good Spider-Man story.

This preview, though? Its not giving me a lot of confidence

Just the worst stylization for a Spider-Man comic imaginable.
