Provided exclusively to Comicbook.com, Marvel has revealed new concept art for their upcoming comic, Bucky Barnes: The Winter Soldier #1. This concept shown shows that Bucky in this comic will look relatively the same to the Bucky we know in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that’s played by Sebastian Stan. Captain America’s one-time sidekick will be boldly going where no Marvel hero has gone before in the new BUCKY BARNES: THE WINTER SOLDIER series coming in October. Penned by SECRET AVENGERS writer Ales Kot with artwork by Marco Rudy who drew MARVEL KNIGHTS SPIDER-MAN and the recent NEW AVENGERS ANNUAL, Bucky's new series spins out of ORIGINAL SIN and throws the troubled hero into the world of intergalactic espionage.

The suit is very like the comics so, not much change. Hope they don't go with the mask all the time though, he doesn't really need it. I mean everyone knows who the Winter Soldier is mostly in 616.

I did, yeah. Read it for the first time years ago and then reread a few weeks before the movie. The Winter Soldier, Man Out Of Time, and Operation Rebirth are my favourites.

I really should get on some of the older stuff, though. I'm talkin' the 70s. I keep telling myself I'll read more eventually, but I need to find the time.

It's not really a redesign. The base design is there, and it's changed from artist to artist throughout the years.

Hmm, I'm pretty sure we got the mask in Winter Soldier The Bitter March... That series acted as a origin story for as Ran Shen changed his ideology for the woman he loved and eventually became the Iron Nail featured in the main Cap series. It was pretty standalone as well. One of my all time favorites.

I don't care that I know the marketing reason for why this was done.
I don't care that characters DO change over the years.

It still sucks that his design is changing BECAUSE of the movie designers inability to get it right. A little tail wagging the dog action.

More movie alterations to come.

How long 'til Marvel's 616 Yondu is a turned into a foul-mouthed jerk of a space pirate?
