DEADPOOL Shoot To Close Vancouver Bridge For Sword/Gunfights And Car Chase Scenes

It seems we might catch some sword and gunfire action on the Deadpool set starting this weekend as the R-rated Marvel adaptation will be closing a bridge in Vancouver. Details after the jump!

Despite having a budget smaller than catering on most X-Men movies, as Ryan Reynolds joked very recently, Deadpool will soon be closing a major highway in Vancouver, Canada, where filming is primarily taking place. According to a filming notice given to locals, the Fox/Marvel production will be restricting the use of the Georgia Street Viaduct from Sunday, April 5, to Thursday, April 16. "The scene involves our hero in a car chase, with stunt fight action on the bridge deck," notes the letter. Also, due to the use of theatrical smoke, lights to simulate a fire, exposed guns and swords, as well as simulated gunfire, the Vancouver Police Department will be on duty during the shoot.

We've already seen Ryan Reynolds and a few other Deadpool cast members on the Vancouver set this past week, so perhaps we'll finally get some action from the production over the weekend and throughout next week when it shuts down the Georgia Street Viaduct. What do you think?

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life. Directed by Tim Miller, while starring Ryan Reynolds (Wade Wilson), Morena Baccarin (Vanessa Carlysle), T.J. Miller (Weasel), with Ed Skrein, and Brianna Hildebrand (Ellie Phimister), the much-hyped Deadpool is scheduled to open in theaters on February 12, 2016.

Awesome, it's been a while since I've seen a sword in comic book movies other than in like Guardians of the Galaxy or the Thor movies.

Or in The Wolverine, but I'm counting these fights are going to have great choreography, especially due to Tim's background as a creative director and whatnot.

Having read the leaked script, this is probably the scene that culminates in Deadpool fighting Colossus. The script is really good by the way, check it out:

I wish Fox and the MCU would get along so we could get Hawkeye vs Deadpool. That was the most fun I have had reading a Marvel Now! comic.

With fox giving the green light for an R rated movie, there giving the production all the tools necessary to make this film as successful as it can be. I love it! Can't wait for this movie. Who would've thought Deadpool would kick off the best year in comic book movie history! This is awesome

I'll reserve my judgment until the final product is complete. He, Reynolds, already killed one DC superhero, so is only fitting he kills a Marvel one a la R.I.P.D. Hopefully, this will turn out to be a decent interpretation of the character.

@0megaDaGr0dd- He's basically sent to try and recruit Deadpool into the X-Men. He later helps Wade in his assault on Ajax's base and fights one of his super-mercenary lackeys.

No worries my man, a lot of people will make that mistake while discussing this movie I'm sure

@dukenukem777

Definitely way better then throne of atlantis. I think this one had a real story and care, and damn, definitelly pushing the PG-13 they showed quite a bit of stuff I didn't excpect. I think it's their best effort considering their New 52 line of movies. Agreed on Robin, I mean yeah he is trained by the best but he's still 10 years old lol. I really liked this one, and hope they can continue the momentum, oh and the music was great, escpecially at the end, had that Dark Knight feel. Definitelly buying this for my collection

They should've made a kickstarter account for the movie like super troopers 2 and got a bigger budget.
But looking good anyway.
