Disney/Fox Merger Could Actually Be Completed As Soon As The End Of 2018

We have some potentially very exciting news for you today as a new report claims there's a chance the Disney/Fox merger could be done by the end of the year, meaning the X-Men arrive home even sooner...

In a new report from Deadline, the trade reveals that some insiders believe that despite the official forecast for the closure of the Disney/Fox deal being next year, it could actually be wrapped up by the end of this year. This is a major surprise and probably unlikely to happen, but that original target of next summer will more than likely end up being beaten either way.

Even if this were to take place before the New Year, it probably wouldn't change Avengers 4 at this stage but it's hard not to wonder what this would mean for Dark Phoenix and The New Mutants. It's previously been reported that Disney will release any Fox movies in active production so the former would probably be safe but as the latter hasn't undergone reshoots yet, it could very well be scrapped.

During a recent interview, Disney boss Bob Iger confirmed that the plan is to reboot the Fantastic Four and X-Men into the Marvel Cinematic Universe when he said that, "It only makes sense for Marvel to be supervised by one entity. There shouldn't be two Marvels." Marvel might try to find a way to merge the two universes but that seems like it would be far too confusing for most moviegoers.

@Jaspion - RIP R-Rated Deadpool. Fox is already being forced to release a PG-13 Deadpool for Christmas.

@mastakilla39 - who cares? 2 movies were more than enough for Deadpool anyway. Second one wasn't even that funny.

Gotta think bigger, bro.
X-Men, F4, Spidey and Avengers all together. You know, like the comics

@mastakilla39 - also RIP shitty X-Men movies, with the same story in all of them, with ageless Professor X and Magneto where their relationship doesn't go anywhere. RIP [frick]ed up timelines. RIP all F4 lame movies.

@Jaspion - Nah, DP2 was great! Highly looking forward to DP3 and X-Force. There is no other CBM like DP and I would take a r-rated Deadpool over a water down reboot X-Men, F4, or Spider-Man homecoming any day. Avengers don't need the X-Men or Spider-Man TBH or vice versa.

Some X-Men films are 1 of the best in this genre. Most MCU films are good, but not great. F4 needs a savior though.

@mastakilla39 - DP 2 sucked anyways.

@BlackPhillip - Why did you dislike it? I thought it was entertaining, not as good as the original but it doesn't suck.

@mastakilla39 - It tried too hard to be funny where the first one was genuinely funny. It also relied to heavily on rehashing previous gags from the first film, instead of creating new moments. It was a typical sequel, just gave more of what everyone loved from the first one instead of doing something new and refreshing.

@ThePeterCipher -

I agree with Disney;
"It only makes sense for Marvel to be supervised by one entity. There shouldn't be two Marvels."

it should be only one, the MVP of all:

Get in shape everyone. You want to live as healthy a lifestyle as possible so you can live long enough for the 100th Anniversary of the MCU.

Robot Downey Jr. will be hosting a direct neural download marathon of all 300 films in the canon, and Kevin Feige's Head in a Jar will be announcing the slate for Phase 37. Early word is, they're finally going to address the real Mandarin. Then there will be a solemn memorial service for the veterans of the 2092 Clone Conflict, when several dozen Russos revolted and spawned their own splinter studio. And the final presentation will be given by the laboratory-grown result of the merged genetic properties of Evans, Hemsworth, and Pratt (simply known as Chris Prime) will reveal a trailer for the next Marvel Studios film: the Inhumans.

Mark your calendars, and remember to hit all major forms of exercise for maximum lifespan:

I... I really want to witness this.

Was this an attempt to get to clone the Russo brothers into getting them to direct more MCU films?

@BlindWedjat - That was the idea, but it didn't work out. In the mid-50's, thousands of Russos were cloned and implanted into surrogates. The resulting children were raised in the recently-completed Epcot complex under the charge of the newly-revived Walt Disney (they unthaw him in the 40's).

Anyway, long story short, each Joe clone was matched with an Anthony clone, but imperfections in the original source samples resulted in a dwindling supply of Anthonies. By the time the first generation of clones reach their twenties, the Joes growing difficult to control. By the 90's, there is an organized movement of Joe-Supremacists that actually struck out at the few remaining Anthonies.

The project was then scuttled, but there are always rumors that there are some unassuming Russos operating on second-units in various Disney productions.
