Disney/Fox Merger Could Actually Be Completed As Soon As The End Of 2018
We have some potentially very exciting news for you today as a new report claims there's a chance the Disney/Fox merger could be done by the end of the year, meaning the X-Men arrive home even sooner...
In a new report from Deadline, the trade reveals that some insiders believe that despite the official forecast for the closure of the Disney/Fox deal being next year, it could actually be wrapped up by the end of this year. This is a major surprise and probably unlikely to happen, but that original target of next summer will more than likely end up being beaten either way.
Even if this were to take place before the New Year, it probably wouldn't change Avengers 4 at this stage but it's hard not to wonder what this would mean for Dark Phoenix and The New Mutants. It's previously been reported that Disney will release any Fox movies in active production so the former would probably be safe but as the latter hasn't undergone reshoots yet, it could very well be scrapped.
During a recent interview, Disney boss Bob Iger confirmed that the plan is to reboot the Fantastic Four and X-Men into the Marvel Cinematic Universe when he said that, "It only makes sense for Marvel to be supervised by one entity. There shouldn't be two Marvels." Marvel might try to find a way to merge the two universes but that seems like it would be far too confusing for most moviegoers.
