Fans have been speculating on which Marvel heroes would be next to get the big screen treatment since Disney announced not two, but three mystery Phase 3 movies last week. Both Doctor Strange and Black Panther have long been rumored to be next on the list, though we have never had any official word. But now -- while answering a question about those recent Planet Hulk/Civil war rumors -- Stan Lee mentions both characters while revealing which movies are currently being worked on at Marvel.
"I'm not involved in those decisions anymore, but the people at Marvel are spending hours trying to think 'what will we do next?' and there's a damn good chance that they will think of just what you mentioned, 'cos it would be a great idea and little by little everything you want to see will come along, because [Marvel] are just like you, they're fans of the stories and they're trying to think 'what would the fans like to see next? What would we like to see next?' So they're working on Ant-Man, they're working on Doctor Strange, they're working on Guardians of the Galaxy, they're working on god knows what. And did I say Black Panther also. Those are the ones I know about and there are others that I don't even know about, and shame on them for not telling me."
Now it's worth noting that Lee has mentioned both Dr. Strange and Black Panther in the past (quite a few times actually!) as projects the studio was keen to get off the ground, but here he seems to confirm that they are actually in active development along with the likes of
Guardians Of The Galaxy and
Ant-Man. Of course he might just be basing this on what he assumes the studio is gearing up for, but with SDCC right around the corner we'll likely find out very soon one way or the other.
