Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds recently shot down the rumour that he'll make a cameo appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, though he wasn't particularly convincing! As a result, many fans remain convinced this sequel will be where the Merc with the Mouth makes his MCU debut.
Online scoopers don't seem to be able to agree about whether this cameo is happening, but The DisInsider Show's Derek Cornell recently compared Reynolds' denial to Andrew Garfield repeatedly saying he wouldn't be in Spider-Man: No Way Home. "Well, Ryan Reynolds is pulling an Andrew Garfield right now, so we'll see," he said before co-host Skyler Shuler added, "Deadpool's in it."
It's worth pointing out that Cornell and Shuler were the first to report that Hayley Atwell's Captain Carter will appear in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, something that was seemingly confirmed by the movie's poster. They've also previously teased plans for Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man and Loki stars Owen Wilson and Sophia Di Martino, but time will obviously tell on that front.
It makes all the sense in the world to introduce Wade Wilson in Sam Raimi's Doctor Strange sequel. Unlike the X-Men, it doesn't appear as if the plan is to reboot the character, so pulling him into the MCU from another reality (with a few members of his supporting cast) would arguably be the easiest way to make Reynolds part of the Marvel Studios family without invalidating his previous adventures.
If a Deadpool cameo is happening, expect it to remain under wraps until the movie arrives in theaters as we're sure, like the two Spider-Men, Marvel Studios will want this to blow fans' minds.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness arrives in theaters on May 6!
