Bruce Campbell starred in Evil Dead before making cameo appearances in all three of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man movies. Now, the actor is hoping for a role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness...

Bruce Campbell and director Sam Raimi have quite the history, and after starring in Evil Dead, the actor appeared in all three Spider-Man movies. His cameos in the latter franchise were extremely memorable, and the plan was for him to show up as a guy dressed as Mysterio in Spider-Man 4 (which didn't happen after Sony decided to reboot the franchise).

After Raimi confirmed that he will be taking the helm of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Campbell was quick to take to Twitter to suggest that he could also appear in some way.

It's hard to say what he might be angling for here, but it could be that the actor would like to see Ash come face to face with the Sorcerer Supreme! Alternatively, he might just want a cameo appearance to play someone who gets on Strange's nerves as much as the characters he played who got in Peter Parker's way across the Spider-Man trilogy.

It would certainly be a shame for Campbell not to appear in some way, and it would be no bad thing to see him get a slightly more significant role as he is such an entertaining presence on screen.

What do you guys think?

First of all... It would be cool if one of the 'verses in the multiverse is Ash in the Marvel Zombie universe. That'd be a cool cameo.

Does he need to hope? I mean it’s gonna happen! Even if it’s just a one scene cameo.

Bruce Campbell would be a perfect MCU actor.

With that jawline, he could even play an older superhero.

@Darkknight2149 - i still think that far from home shouldve used bruce Campbell as either a fake mysterio or an actor playing one of the elementals. It would've been fun reference to spidermans history and potentially throw people off that jake Gyllenhaals character is the villain.

The Raimi news makes me grin ear-to-ear every time.

Bruce is pretty much guaranteed to show up. The question is how big will the role be and will Lucy Lawless and Ted Raimi show up too.

I’ve been saying this since the rumours of Raimi being involved - Campbell to be the next MCU cameo quirk. Yes he’s not deserving to fill the Stan Lee role because of Lee’s obvious involvement in the Marvel comic characters creations.

However, if anyone can unquestionably be shoehorned into a lighthearted cameo from time to time without taking the audience out of the film - it’s Bruce Campbell.

I hope this does show Strange going into different realities and there's a big build up to him meeting Raimi's Spidey and just when you think it's finally gonna happen Bruce Campbell shows up instead.

I had a theory in the Raimi trilogy that Campbell was actually playing the same character the whole time and he just worked really random jobs (Ring announcer, theatre usher, waiter, etc) and he recognised Peter from the wrestling match and knew he was Spider-Man and when they'd run into each other it'd be purely coincidental but he liked messing with him just because to him it was like he had an inside joke with Spider-Man only Peter had no idea.

Of course if Spider-Man 4 had happened then we'd have found out he was Mysterio the whole time (as per the concept art/montage description) but I feel like it could still fit, like he just took it too far and crossed the line but wasn't necessarily a dangerous supervillain like Mysterio is in the comics, he'd have been more of a jokey nuisance to Spidey.

Let us all appreciate that J.K. Simmons will likely show up to in this movie as well. He's already in the MCU, and I have to imagine Raimi and him wouldn't miss this opportunity to work with each other again.

It'll probably just be something small, like a flashback to Strange's parents. I don't see him as Nightmare. Ulysses Bloodstone, maybe, but I don't think there's room with all the other rumored players.

I can't imagine Campbell not showing up in some capacity, I can even imagine Ted Raimi showing up in a cameo with JK Simmons at some point in the movie, but the only real guaranteed cameo is the Delta 88.

YES!!! I know I'm pumped for Raimi to direct (assuming he stays attached), but I'm always down for more Bruce Campbell in my life and on the big screen.
