Everyone might be talking about Hawkeye after that awesome first trailer, but Eternals is the next Marvel Studios project we'll be watching once What If...? comes to an end. Set for an exclusive theatrical release on November 5, the movie promises to be a game-changer for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, something director Chloé Zhao teased during an interview with Total Film.
"I think we stand alone as a film for sure," the filmmaker said when asked about how Eternals fits into the wider MCU. "But I do think we will have a very big effect on the future of the MCU with what happens in this film. Which, you know, as a fan, is really satisfying for me! I geek out."
That's not the only way the movie promises to change this franchise's future, because the amount of representation on screen is likely to be more than any we've seen in a Marvel Studios movie before.
"I think that the comics give us hope and that is what the MCU does," Lauren Ridloff, who plays deaf superhero Makkari, notes. "I feel that with more representation and diversity within the MCU, that sense of optimism and ‘can-do’ becomes more strong, more palpable. I hope that people who feel seen also feel empowered to dream bigger."
Many of Eternals' key cast members are highlighted in the new stills below, including Richard Madden's Ikaris and Gemma Chan's Sersi (along with a couple of group shots of these powerful superheroes).
Marvel Studios has released the "final" trailer for Eternals, but we expect to see more from this one soon. Late last week, we also got a fresh look at the team assembled on a new set of magazine covers.
