While not every Marvel Studios movie has been embraced by critics, Eternals remains the MCU's only "Rotten" blockbuster. There was a lot to love about the debut of this team, but some mistakes were definitely made, whether it was the generic villain or the fact it featured way too many characters.
Regardless of whether you loved the movie, loathed it, or fall somewhere in the middle, there's no denying that cliffhanger ending needs to be resolved.
In the closing few moments of Eternals, the Celestial Arishem arrived on Earth, taking those who stopped Tiamut's emergence for judgement (seemingly with the planet's fate on the line). There's also the small matter of a giant marble Celestial sticking out of the Indian Ocean, though no one in the MCU has really made mention of that yet.
Talking to Phase Zero, Eternals and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever producer Nate Moore was asked outright if fans can expect to see the movie's immortal heroes again.
"I would...I don't want to spoil anything, but we have not seen the last of those characters," he teased, strongly hinting that there are plans for them to return sooner rather than later. Whether that will be in a movie, on Disney+, or even in another character's adventure obviously remains to be seen.
Tepid reviews and the fact Eternals came out right at the end of the pandemic meant it wasn't a major box office hit. As a result, it's hard to say how keen Disney will be to allow Marvel Studios to forge ahead with a big budget sequel, though this is definitely a corner of the MCU we think deserves to be explored.
If nothing else, we're sure Kevin Feige and company won't want to waste Harry Styles after casting him to play Eros, the brother of Thanos...
