UPDATE: 4/1 - If you haven't figured it out by now, this "article" was an April Fool's day joke. Psyche!
Captain America director Joe Johnston confirmed that unknown actor Armie Hammer has been cast in the role of Steve Rogers for the upcoming Captain America film.
According to Variety he had this to say:
“Armie is a great kid with a lot of talent. His audition was really something special, there was a lot of competition, but he really stuck out in my mind.”
Hammer was unable to be reached for comment. According to Johnston Hammer is already in California getting fitted for the costume and has been there for a little over a week, “I’ve already seen the suit, it looks great. It was inspired by the Ultimate Marvel costume that seems to be a popular choice among fans. It looks great, he really fits it.”
On the subject of the recent news that Chris Evans was cast as Captain America Johnston shrugged it off saying:
“Well, we never confirmed that he was playing Captain America. But he does have a crucial role in the film. He plays a certain character that has Captain America in the comics.”
Sounds like he may be hinting that Evans will be Captain America’s youthful sidekick Bucky Barnes.
Well, you know the drill, confirm or debunk below.
