It’s hard to find anyone that can debate as eloquently and passionately as a comic book fan. Here we have the perfect forum for just such a deliberation. Now's the time to put the otherwise useless wealth of knowledge to work! Our first match-up:

Powers and Abilities:

Deadpool (Wade Wilson) - Primary power is an accelerated healing factor, which enables him to regenerate any destroyed tissues or organs very quickly. The speed at which this healing factor works varies in direct proportion to the severity of the damage he suffers (he even survived decapitation at least twice). As a by-product of his healing factor, he possesses enhanced strength, stamina, agility, and reflexes. Aside from his physical advantages, he is an expert in multiple forms of martial arts, and an expert swordsman and marksman. He favors using bladed and martial arts weapons to meet opponents in single combat. He also uses various firearms and blade weapons, his trademark weapons being his twin katanas, worn on his back, and his dual-wielded pistols. He suffers from apparent insanity, a byproduct of his unnatural healing factor. His bouts of madness also function as an asset as it allows him to devise bizarre and ultimately humorous situations when attacking his opponents. He wears a personal teleportation device on his torso.

Punisher (Frank Castle) - He is the recipient of multi-disciplinary military training from the U.S. Marine Corps. While a Marine, he also received training from the U.S. Army and Navy. He is proficient in not only basic infantry skills, but in special operations, which includes the use and maintenance of specialized firearms and explosive ordnance. He is highly trained in infiltration into heavily-guarded enemy territories and structures for the purpose of assassination, captures, and military intelligence. Also, he is trained in various forms of camouflage and stealth. From his Navy UDT training, Punisher is well-skilled in extended underwater operations, including demolitions. He is skilled with a great many types of explosives, ranging from simple dynamite to improvised explosives. His hand-to-hand combat skills are more than sufficient to allow him to incapacitate and kill men much stronger than he is, as well as to deal with groups of armed and unarmed enemies, killing them all without weapons if he deems it necessary. He is also extremely deadly in knife training, preferring the knife he learned to fight with in the USMC: the k-bar. Additionally, he is a preternaturally-precise marksman. He is thoroughly trained and experienced in unconventional ("guerilla") warfare. He is an brilliant tactician, a master at game theory, a skilled gunsmith, and an expert in field medicine.

Initial engagement location:

The USS Intrepid Museum, Manhattan, New York City

Basic rules:

1. We are not discussing the ethics behind why they are fighting, only that they ARE fighting.

2. This is an all-out brawl with only one winner. No draws.

3. No one want s to hear “But if he didn’t have THIS power, then. . ”, so keep that B.S. out of the discussion.

man... deadpool is pretty cool... but I go with punisher. yep! Deadpool is great but unstable. his bouts of madness is bound to be his undoing. Deadpool seems to be more instinctive and impulsive whereas Punisher is more rational, intellectually superior. His thought process is more complex. I go with Punisher in the sense that as military trained losing is not an option. =P

Deadpool has swords and heals, but given the location.... Punisher might have the upper hand. hhmmm.....

yeah.. special forces... but he is prone to madness, and gives into it. he's rogue. He's not listening to reason nor is he following protocle. He's doing what he wants. Now Punisher on the other hand, sticks to what he knows best and adapts to any given situation. Adapt and overcome. I dont think given deadpools penchant for the crazy will allow him to do this. Maybe at one time when he was whole but he hasnt demonstrated those skills with his erratic behavior, imho. His fighting skills are without complaint but logic will always win. Punisher will use Deadpools madness against him.

and what does being multi lingual have to do with the price of tea in china? is he going to kill punisher in so many languages? lol!

Cable made Deadpool's head explode and he survived. While the Punisher is cool, the healing factor has to swing it in Deadpools favour.

In the recent Suicide Kings series Punisher cuts Deadpool up pretty dam good. Basicaly makes a torso out of him.
But he can't kill him.

Uh guys, the Punisher already beat Deadpool once, easily. He left Deadpool and Outlaw bare ass naked in a phone booth. I think it was Deadpool, it may have been Agent X, and if it was they both have the same abilities anyway, so Frank would still win.

HAWK out.

The problem with Deadpool these days is the same problem Wolverine has. The writers and artists are having so much fun showing the reader how much punishment the two can take, that they forgot how badass they were to begin with. When Wolverine first came out (and its the same with Deadpool) no one could get the drop on him, neither could they get too dam many hits in on him, he was a fighting machine with a healing factor. Now everyone and thier sister beats them, cuts them, shoots them, blows them up, or anything else that looks cool until eventualy old Wolvie or Deads can get a shot in to win. I think it takes away from the characters.

Hawksblueyes - I totally agree with you when it comes to the X-Men movie franchise! In 4 movies we only saw one scene that shows how bad ass Wolverine can be and that is in X3 running towards spike. Other than that he gets his ass handed to him!

Onto the topic at hand;

Deadpool will win. While not quite immortal he can take shots that would kill anyone else. Punisher may deal a sh*t load of pain on Wades ass but he will tire before Deadpool, and succumb to even minor wounds resulting in an easy kill.
