The Captain's Costume

The Captain's Costume

Captains costume is monumental!! This is how I think it should be done.

Lately I've been thinking about what real world materials could be used to create Captain Americas' modern costume. There are recent materials that the military has developed that would work perfectly with the Captains get-up and that would compliment his look very nicely. The past few days I've done some research and have come up with some ideas on how the creators of the upcoming film could work with these materials or embelish them slightly in order to make them work with the Captains high caliber requirements for combat.

1. a)Upper Body and b)Torso.

a)Dragonskin and b)Kevlar

We all know Captain has that scaley looking upper body armor (see picture) but I've always wondered, "what is that made of?". I can understand how it could work and be plausible to stop bullets but never knew what material it could possibly be. Well last year I heard about the new body armor called "Dragon-Skin" that is being used on todays military. It is made of "secret materials" one they did say however I think is some form of ceramics, that is layered in a way that actually looks like scales. Here is a picture...

Now doesn't that look strikingly similar to Captains America's upper body armor?

b) Kevlar (Torso area)

A flexible material could be used to form around the torso areas that connects the upper body, for example Kevlar. It is a bullet stopping material that is used commonly on the battle field today and would being flexible it would work around the Captains midsection so that he may move freely and be protected from small arms fire.

2) Pants (Military AC pants)

These pants are used by military personel and are extremely durable. They can have pads built onto the thighs knees and shins so that they remains flexible but are also protective. I think these would work perfectly for Captain, maybe Tony Stark can modify them a bit.

3) Boots (BLACKHAWK Spec Ops)

Now this is just my opinion but Captains traditional costumes' boots are a little whacky. They look like something that Robin Hood would wear and they really don't fit the rest of the costume. He's a solider, not a bow toting middle age's hero who sings with his merry men. So to give him a modern/functional/practical and REALISTIC look he should have a pair of these. (In red of course.)

These boots are great, I have personaly used them before and can say they are the most durable and comfortable military boots I've used. They are light and have a great deal of traction to them, these are what our guys (soliders) use today!

Give him some shoulder pads dawning the stars and the material inbetween (i.e. the white connecting strechy pieces) could be some form of intense form fitting body armor.

His accersoris (i.e. belt, possible chest rig) I havent thought about much because those should be rather simple and easy to figure out. The helmet or head-cap is another thing entirely. I was thinking maybe a metal skull cap thing that completely forms to his cranium. It is attached underneat the blue part of his costume which he wears and that would solve that. Also the big A could be some kind of bullet proof material too.

Well thats my ideas for the Captain, what do you think?
Thanks for reading =)

Could work, I'd would like to see Cap have a more military look for the movie. I like the Ultimates version of Cap w/ the helmet and all for a pre Avengers uniform.

I find both the scales and cowl wings to be unnecessary.
