Earlier tonight, Deadline's Justin Kroll Tweeted that Marvel Studios is set to "gear up" the casting process for Matt Shakman's Fantastic Four reboot this month, and Sue Storm is expected to be the first role filled.
Now, we have a very interesting update courtesy of the latest episode of The Hot Mic podcast.
Jeff Sneider shared an image of Irish actress Saoirse Ronan shortly after Kroll's Tweet, which led to speculation that she may be in the running to play Invisible Woman. Then, during the podcast, Sneider clarified that Ronan probably isn't in contention, as they're casting her character and Mr. Fantastic a little older.
Why? Well, apparently Reed and Sue are already going to be parents when we meet them in the movie!
If you're a comic book reader, you'll likely have an idea of what kind of ramifications this could have for the MCU going forward. If accurate, either Franklin - a reality-warper and one of the most powerful beings in the universe - or Valeria - who is potentially even smarter than her father - (or both) will be introduced in the film.
Both of these characters were integral to some huge Marvel Comics events, such as Dark Reign and the Multiversal Collapse, and could play major roles in the build-up to Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars.
This is obviously just speculation, but if Marvel Studios is ageing-up these characters to make them parents, you can bet it's with good reason.
