FANTASTIC FOUR: RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER Star Doug Jones "Would Jump" At The Chance To Reprise Marvel Role

Hellboy star Doug Jones played the Silver Surfer In Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, and the actor has now expressed a desire to make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Norrin Radd!

2007's Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer was another disappointing entry in Fox's Marvel Universe, but most fans responded well to Doug Jones and Laurence Fishburne's take on the Silver Surfer. The latter voiced the hero, while the Hellboy star provided Norrin Radd's movements.

Given the way motion-capture technology has advanced, it's unlikely two separate actors will be needed when the Silver Surfer finally arrives in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. For what it's worth, though, Jones would love to join the MCU as the shiny herald of Galactus.

"If they were going to bring the Silver Surfer back to film, [if] it was offered to me, I would jump at the chance," he tells ComicBook.com. "I loved playing him. He was so heroic and angelic and Christ-like even. He's the kind of superhero that I want to be in my real life. And beautiful. He had the best ass I've ever had on film. So if I could play him again, I would jump at the chance, sure."

It's a nice thought, but not one that's likely to become a reality. Marvel Studios will probably hire an A-List star to play the Silver Surfer, with that actor performing as the character on the set of any upcoming films.

@boiling - I think someone deleted that whole thread because I posted a silver butt reference to the Doug Jones quote above about the best ass he's ever had on film. Sucks because there were some entertaining replies and that was the most interesting part of the article.

Hm ok but what I don’t understand is why your response comment did not get deleted with the og post and we are technically still posting under a deleted comment. Mysterious :)

Id be up for that, although let him do the voice. Do not think lawrence fisherburn fit the character. Plus he also voiced Abe in Hellboy after they dubbed over him in the first movie with Niles from Fraiser (dont know the actor’s name)

@billnye69 - I wanted so badly for this version of the character to get a second chance and is the reason I enjoy watching this movie to this day. If they would have actually used Galactus the movie would have been so much better.

do a Hellboy 2 on it, have him play the role, physically AND in voice, he would do a good job.

if JK can be JJJ again, Doug can be the Surfer

and do they really need an A-Lister for the role. Actors like their face to be seen, they would be unrecognizable in the role

I do agree with hiring a different actor for Silver Surfer. But it would be awesome for him to be in the MCU- how could anyone turn down his talents?

@WeaponXCII - Is there really a need for a different actor when the whole character will probably be CGI'd in 95% of the time?

There was obviously a LOT wrong with those early FF movies, but this guy was definitely not one of them. Of course Fishburne did the voice acting, but the physicality this dude brought to the role really took the 2nd one up a notch
