2007's Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer was another disappointing entry in Fox's Marvel Universe, but most fans responded well to Doug Jones and Laurence Fishburne's take on the Silver Surfer. The latter voiced the hero, while the Hellboy star provided Norrin Radd's movements.
Given the way motion-capture technology has advanced, it's unlikely two separate actors will be needed when the Silver Surfer finally arrives in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. For what it's worth, though, Jones would love to join the MCU as the shiny herald of Galactus.
"If they were going to bring the Silver Surfer back to film, [if] it was offered to me, I would jump at the chance," he tells ComicBook.com. "I loved playing him. He was so heroic and angelic and Christ-like even. He's the kind of superhero that I want to be in my real life. And beautiful. He had the best ass I've ever had on film. So if I could play him again, I would jump at the chance, sure."
It's a nice thought, but not one that's likely to become a reality. Marvel Studios will probably hire an A-List star to play the Silver Surfer, with that actor performing as the character on the set of any upcoming films.
