In a shocking turn of events Warner Brothers came to the conclusion, according to The Hollywood Reporter, to move David Dobkin's King Arther tale Arthur of Lancelot off the current release schedule. There is no word as of yet why the film is being dropped off the schedule and there is no word on when it could possibly be added again. In another surprise move they are taking Bryan Singer's Jack The Giant Killer and moving it back by almost a year from June 15th of this year to March 15th of next year.

From The Hollywod Reporter:

Warner Bros. has taken David Dobkin's Arthur and Lancelot off its release calendar.

The re-imagining of the King Arthur legend, starring Kit Harington and Joel Kinnaman, was supposed to open March 15, 2013.

At the same time, Warners moved back Bryan Singer's fantasy Jack the Giant Killer 3D by almost a year to March 22, 2013. It had been set to open June 15, 2012.

Once again there has been not no explanation as to why Arthur of Lancelot has been taken off the schedule or why Jack The Giant Killer is being push back as far as it has. Sound off your speculation in the comment boxes below.

I was thinking about this film today, I can't say I'm all that interested in the film but, I was just thinking about films out this year and their are a lot of big movies, loads of competition, this is one of those years where great blockbuster movies could flop because their up against franchises, sequels etc. films that came to mind, John carter, jack the giant killer, the two snow white movies... They could all be good films but they are all likely to underperformance against other films, John carter released at one of the only slow areas so could do well but the rest are in scenic book territory, jack the giant killer is right between films like mib3, spiderman and not long before TDKR, that sounds like a death sentence to me. I think WBs doing the smart thing and getting it outta there..... or maybe it's just a disappointing crapfest.

Good, this gives 'em a chance to improve on the craptastic graphics in the Jack movie, maybe make some decent script edits too. This looks completely soulless, judging from the traile only. I wish this was as good as the "Jack and the Giant Killer" movie created by Jack himself in that issue of "Fables"..now THAT picture looked epic LOL

Deadline revealed last month that "Arthur and Lancelot" was facing budget issues. WB apparently even gave the director a chance to set up the film at another studio.

This could be (probably is, IMO) why they removed it from the schedule.

Maybe WB believes in the "Mayan Apocalypse". Not exactly a bright recommendation for the Arthur and Lancelot film.

Remember the days when we only got 1 or 2 blockbusters a year now studios try to shove every movie they can down your throat and expect epic turnouts for each. Duh people can't afford 12 dollars for each movie especially when compared to CBM's they want to go see. Hell last year I was shelling out like 40+ a month for movies in the summer

Start spreading those movies around I will go see them in January through April I don't care if they look interesting and good but don't spend money on the crap fest that they have been and then complain they don't have money for these movies.
