Nice. The Tempest has not only had its own comic series, but the story or characters from it have featured in quite a few other series including Sandman and Hercules. If you have never read it or find Shakespeare a bit of a bore, the comic is the way to go as it really is a classic tale.

This film adaptation is directed by Julie Taymor who previously directed an adap of another Shakespeare classic Titus with Anthony Hopkins(check it out, its class). The basic plot of the movie is..

Going back to the 16th or 17th century, women practicing the magical arts of alchemy were often convicted of witchcraft. In Taymor's version, Prospera is usurped by her brother and sent off with her four-year daughter on a ship. She ends up on an island; it's a tabula rasa: no society, so the mother figure becomes a father figure to Miranda. This leads to the power struggle and balance between Caliban and Prospera; a struggle not about brawn, but about intellect

Helen Mirren will play Prospera(changing gender from the original Prospero) and Djimon Hounsou will play the beast man Caliban. The supporting cast includes David Strathairn, Djimon Hounsou, Reeve Carney, Alan Cumming, Alfred Molina, Chris Cooper, Felicity Jones, Ben Whishaw and Russell Brand.
