This is, of course, the innovation take on King's material that will consist of a film trilogy and a limited series of six episodes of a TV series to be broadcast between films one and two.

Writes Deadline, "This marks Verheiden's return to NBC and UMS following his turn as a supervising producer on Heroes. He also was a writer/co-exec producer on the NBCU series Battlestar Galactica, which ran on Syfy. He most recently served as a co-executive producer of TNT's upcoming sci-fi series Falling Skies, from DreamWorks TV."

@AlexWeedy yes, but why both? thats lame. just shoot a movie trilogy. keep it dark. keep it R. keep it away from mainstream. and from television.

Like Alex Said, every article on this subjects tells you it will be MOVIE- TV- MOVIE- TV- Movie. On Ron Howard I think he'll do great job, cant wait till Bardem officailly commits to it.

I personally think that it's a great approach and something that's never been done before. We get a feature film, a six-episode TV series to bridge the gap between film one and two, and then a third film. Pretty innovative.

@ED.....the only problem with innovation is that it has to work, if others try to do this idea to compete and Dark Tower fails then they will try to hold off on innovation. Speaking of that....wasn't the Del Toro Hulk show being a bridge between Ang Lee's and Lettiers Hulk?

Like Red Boar said- MOVIE - tv - MOVIE - tv - MOVIE. I cannot freaking wait! I still wish it was JOSH HOLLOWAY playing Roland though.

I think they are doing it the right way. There is no way they could have fit the entire book run in just 3 movies or 6 for that matter.
