Although some of you may think that this franchise should have ended with the first movie, Disney thinks otherwise. Considering that the last installment,
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tide, made about $1.05 billion worldwide in theaters back in 2011, the studio planned a sequel for Summer 2017. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell no Tales is planned to be shot in Australia in order to reduce production costs.
It is a given that Johnny Depp is lined up to return as Captain Jack Sparrow. Nevertheless, beyond that any cast news are thus far only rumors. (POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD) The most recent one concerns Orlando Bloom’s character Will Turner. The actor shared some interesting information in an interview: "There have certainly been some discussions about it and I'm open to it. That whole experience working with Johnny and (director) Gore (Verbinski) was really amazing for me. One of the reasons I jumped at the opportunity was because Johnny was involved. I was such a massive fan of Johnny Depp growing up so to get up close and personal to Johnny and see how he worked as an actor was just a massive gift."
Other than that, Geoffrey Rush is expected, but not yet confirmed, to return as Jack's friend/enemy Hector Barbossa. So what do you guys think? Still interested in the franchise? Share your thoughts below.
