PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 5 cast news surface!

Well known actor indicates that could return to Disney's most famous franchise (apart from Marvel Studios and Lucasfilms' franchises obviously)

Although some of you may think that this franchise should have ended with the first movie, Disney thinks otherwise. Considering that the last installment, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tide, made about $1.05 billion worldwide in theaters back in 2011, the studio planned a sequel for Summer 2017. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell no Tales is planned to be shot in Australia in order to reduce production costs.

It is a given that Johnny Depp is lined up to return as Captain Jack Sparrow. Nevertheless, beyond that any cast news are thus far only rumors. (POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD) The most recent one concerns Orlando Bloom’s character Will Turner. The actor shared some interesting information in an interview: "There have certainly been some discussions about it and I'm open to it. That whole experience working with Johnny and (director) Gore (Verbinski) was really amazing for me. One of the reasons I jumped at the opportunity was because Johnny was involved. I was such a massive fan of Johnny Depp growing up so to get up close and personal to Johnny and see how he worked as an actor was just a massive gift."

Other than that, Geoffrey Rush is expected, but not yet confirmed, to return as Jack's friend/enemy Hector Barbossa. So what do you guys think? Still interested in the franchise? Share your thoughts below.

Black Pearl was an awesome movie.

Dead Man's Chest was an "okay" movie.

The rest were pretty shitty.

Might be a good idea. As long as there's none of that Kiera romance bs. That ruined the sequels when they focused too much on that. If they had it where it was like Black Pearl with just Jack and Will interacting then I think it would work.

At World's End>Curse of Black Pearl>Dead Man's Chest>On Stranger's Side for me

Curious how the 5th will work; perhaps a time gap could be done to bridge the last two films, thereby explaining Will's character once his time as Davy Jones is up?

I'm not opposed to having another pirate themed movie, I would just prefer a new set of characters.

I still enjoy these movies. Maybe because they are fantasy.

The problem with On Stranger's Side was that they tried to introduce so many fantasy types at once in the movie like mermaids and zombies straight away with little explanation or emphasis, and expected people to just roll with it. Then, the majority of the movie is set in that small jungle and no one understands why.

At World's End should have been the end of the series. It was a great climax to the two movies beforehand, most of the characters got a sense of closure and their stories were pretty much wrapped up, and the story just really evolved. Then, On Stranger Tides just ruined it.

hows about ending the franchise with a 5th or 6th movie about the end of the age of pirates. It would bring a definitive ending to the series and they could make a bit more of a personal feeling to the final movie, a bit like how one of the last Assassin Creed games handled it

They could have a Dark Knight Rises ending where Jack Sparrow "dies" in the end of the movie, but have a bit more of an ambiguous ending where we see the Black Pearl sail off into the horizon as one of the last pirate ships, implying Sparrow survived but no-one will ever see him again as he achieves his ultimate goal of freedom for the rest of time

Something like that would be great

Please end this franchise or recast the characters. I feel asleep on the last 2.

I love the first movie! I've watched all the others, but only have vague memories about them. Probably would watch another one on blu-ray some rainy day in the future.
